Jennifer Hudson!

No, J-Hud had a gay controversy too though...but she was misquoted. I don't remember the magazine, but she said something about how she was taught that homosexuality was wrong, but that she didn't hold those beliefs. The magazine edited her comments to make it sound as if she was homophobic. People are just looking for a reason to hate Jennifer.

Oh, and Beyonce didn't look pissed for one second. She very well could have been, but she showed no visible signs. Lol, so much imagination.

Way to go, Jennifer.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I can't judge her performance, but I think she's a great singer (and definetely got robbed on 'American Idol') :)

She's so humble right now. The speed at which she went from American Idol reject to Golden Globe AND Oscar winner was amazingly fast so I hope she doesn't let it all go to her head.

You people are hilarious! I saw Babel..and it just wasn't my type of movie. The only other person that gave Jenn a run for her money was Cate Blanchett who was flawless in Notes On A Scandal!

Now on to the gay comment. The person asked Jennifer how does she juggle being a devout Christian and having so many gay friends. And Jennifer replied she was always taught that the Bible says it is a sin but she does not believe it!

I thought she was great in Dreamgirls. She could have had some more acting classes but she was Effie Melody White. I totally was transfixed whenever she was screen!

But it will be hard for her to act again. Everyone will want to cast her into that bitchy diva! She is better off singing!

Dreamgirls’ actress Hudson responds

Editor’s note: The statement below refers to the article “‘Dreamgirl’ says Gay is a sin,’ published on Page 47 of this issue of Dallas Voice.

In a recent interview, I was asked how I reconciled being a Christian with performing at events for my gay fans. I find it upsetting that some folks equate being a Christian with being intolerant of gay people. That may, unfortunately, be true for some, but it is not true for me.

I have talked often of my love and support of the gay community. I have said again and again that it was the gay community that supported me long before and long after “American Idol” and kept me working and motivated. It is the gay community that celebrated my voice and my size and my personality long before “Dreamgirls.”

Yes, I was raised Baptist. Yes, I was taught that the Bible has certain views on homosexuality. The Bible also teaches us not to judge. It teaches us to love one another as God loves us all. I love my sister, my two best friends and my director dearly. They happen to be gay. So what?

While some search for controversy, I hope that my friends and fans who know me, know where I stand.

Thank you for allowing me to respond, and I wish Dallas Voice and its readers a happy holiday season.

So she didn't say that she didn't believe it..but she openly denies being homophobic!

Me too. These idiots targeting somebody from American Idol/Dreamgirls who could care less if you're gay or not, when they need to focus their energies on somebody who, oh, wants gays exterminated right here in America (aka republican/conservative politicians). When they're being hauled off to death camps because they were too stupid to go after the right people, I guess they'll still be bitching about Jennifer Hudson.

Exactly. I don't understand how you can have such disdain for someone whose words were twisted and turned and made out to be something she clearly isn't by a vicious and irresponsible reporter. She's a nice person, has plenty of gay friends, has never said anything bad about gay people, isn't trying to take away anyone's rights, and isn't thumping her Bible in anyone's face.

Sheesh.

What? Are you telling me that the only way she will truly be gay-friendly is if she completely denounces Christianity?

Child..you have soo many problems on so many low levels that I really don't care enough to dive into!

She's saying the same crap as someone who says, "I can't be racist because I have black friends."

Don't bring-up "the Bible says we're sinners" if you love us.

Does she have any idea how many gays and lesbians have committed suicide or been murdered because of that book?

Denounce that crap and you'll be supporting us.

She didn't BRING UP anything. The journalist did. Blame him. NOT her.

EXACTLY!! It doesn't make any sense. Lmfao

Interesting that you don't have anything to counter the argument.

Edit, not worth my time.

Yet you're still posting in this thread.

That's referring to the debate, not this little tit for tat thing here. :p

Yes, I know. I'm still posting here, but there's nothing wrong with that. You are the one who has said you're not wasting your time continuing debating.

So you won't waste your time actually discussing something intelligently, yet you have no problem wasting your time posting random little side remarks again and again?

But I don't understand what she did wrong. She is both Christian and accepting of gays. You're saying that she has to choose one or the other.

She was asked if being gay is a sin. And her response was, "According to the way we are taught, it is." And that's a fact.

What else would you have liked her to say?

She thinks she's a sinner for loving us? Where the hell are you getting that from?
