Jersey City/ New York City 2013

I'll be there for sure Saturday. I'll try for Friday too but it may be just the one day...since it's the end of the quarter. There are two accounts who get inventoried the end of every quarter and I will try to have one of them go without me!

Hopefully we can see you as well on Friday, Thad... but so glad you can make it for at least Saturday and will be looking forward to seeing you again soon!:D

So far we have commitments from
Frankfrank
Penguyen?
rickrock
Thad1527 (certainly for Saturday, still not sure about Friday)... not too late to commit, everyone! This isn't a planned event
but we're going to wing it as much as possible! A great deal of walking, subway ridding, getting to know each other a little better and having a ball in the Big Apple!(!) Those of you living nearby, join us for at least Friday or Saturday. Would love to have people attending for both days but I understand scheduling and other commitments. But let's help spark a revival of future meetings in other cities here in the US and abroad by making this a great weekend for all attending!:D

So crap. I just checked this thread, and didn't realize it was for this weekend. I guess I'm too late. It's Fashion Week, and it's been busy for me and I spaced. Boo. :(

It's going to be Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28.. not too late! I was using Friday and Saturday in generalization... not this specific week. So you definitely can make it I hope!

I've heard from palbert via PM who is very interested in coming down for the meet, and told him I'd be very happy to have him join us. Only fly in the ointment would be if he received visitors at the same time which was a bit of a possibility, but very hopeful he can join us. Frankfrank also told me he got in touch with criostoir who resides in Hoboken and he's really thinking about it. Hopeful that others may come, even changed my siggie to reflect the meet that weekend. Better get my chubby pooh butt across the boards over the next week or so and let people know about this.... I even went into the Sausy's Place thread trying to drum up some interest. Riverrick so far was the only one to answer, can't make it right now to travel East but hopes it's a great weekend for all of us!

Hello! I didn't even know this was happening until frankfrank contacted me. I'd like to come if I can. Will you contact me with the specifics (a quick read of this thread didn't turn up meeting locations, and it occurs to me that may be intentional...don't want the homophobic trolls who occasionally scan this site to know where we're going to be)?

No Criostoir, nothing that sinister at all...we just haven't yet figured out all who are coming and, therefore, how or where to set up the logistics of meeting people. Other than me meeting Sausy, I don't think arrival time for anybody else is known yet. And, for that matter, the time I'm meeting Sausy isn't actually known yet, either, because THAT may depend on what time the first person is coming to the meet as well...

Sausy, cool that you heard from Riverrick. We almost had an Ohio "CONTINGENT" attending, wow. Sorry that he can't make it, though. I met him once and he's a pretty cool guy.

In my PM to Criostoir, I repeated the one real complaint that I have about this site - the JUB Regional Gatherings FORUM is really "hidden" so that hardly anybody is ever going to find it by accident. It's not on the drop-down menu, and it can only be found by the View All Forums function and, even then, it's near the bottom of the page.

I've had this complaint for years...I'd love to see JUB gatherings given particular emphasis. That Forum should be listed at the very top, even BEFORE Hot Topics, and it should be on the drop-down menu. I believe that, in general for any and all social websites, meeting events are one of the most important things that can happen on the social side. I'm talking not only about events in gay groups, but even groups such as kayakers, National Rifle Association, stamp collectors, etc. Or am I just old-fashioned?

But Criostoir's response is actual *PROOF* that these things are simply far too hidden.

I HOPE TO HEAR OF OTHERS WHO CAN COME, AS WELL! For what good it will do, I think I'll have to link to this thread.

Administrators, are you listening?

Frank said it as well as it can be done.... it would be so nice if for maximum exposure potential meets can find a listing place where it can attract the members who may have an interest. Every effort that can help raise interest in the community and can get some people together to have some fun and get to know each other a little better is good for the JUB community as a whole and should be celebrated and encouraged. LOL, now who's gonna see these posts?

It's gonna be pretty much a wing it weekend, Criostior ... basically what most of those attending feel like doing we'll make every attempt to do. You're a local and would know the area pretty well (and get awesome views of Midtown Manhattan from Hoboken!). I'm suggesting we meet by Owen Grundy Park at the waterfront pier ... those going to stay in the hotels I mentioned earlier in the thread(except the Grand Hyatt which is right opposite the pier and park) it's easily reached by using the light rail at Newport Station right behind Newport Mall and getting off at Exchange Place station, and walking straight up to the pier. It's got a Starbuck's right there which directly overlooks the Lower Manhattan waterfront... awesome views!..|

C'mon Northeast JUBBERS

If I can even think of coming down from Maine you can make it too!!!

(And DC and environs - and places along the way are only AMTRAK Club Car away!)

We are going to try to check it out. Launching a new site takes so much time and energy it's hard to get away from the office. We are located in north Jersey, so it's not an inconvenience, but just have to find the time. Personally, JUB has been one of my bookmarks for years!

Btw, remember OrionFyre? He was here visiting me this week and last week. He says to say hi.

You can make it for Saturday can't you?

A 1st post too. Great!

Or as he was known jokingly(and lovingly) by Frank, "Onion Fries"! Well hello back!:D Just wish it for that weekend, too! Hope he's doing well. Last time we saw him( at the Las Vegas meet) he was really into going barefoot wherever possible. Still getting out of footwear whenever he can?;)

What a surprise seeing him mentioned. As far as I can tell, he doesn't exist on Facebook at all. I've wanted to talk to him again since the last time in 2010.

Looking forward to a fortnight from now!

So can anyone suggest exhibits to see? I know MET Opera is doing Cosi fan tutte Saturday night if that's your thing.
