So...I'm going to be graduating this year and have been applying for a couple of jobs. There has been one specifically, I have been eyeing.

I applied for this job through my university's careers site, but I generally don't like applying for jobs through third party sites, so I sent an email to the company (they didn't have any number listed on their site, just an email) asking if it would be more appropriate If I dropped in my resume in person.

This is the email I got back:

''It will be great if you can visit our office. Will you be able to visit us at 10am on Thursday morning?'' There was more but it's not relevant.

I'm fine with meeting with them, but I don't know if this is an interview or just a casual meeting.

So my question is....would it be stupid of me to ask if this thing is an interview or just a casual meeting? I ask because I don't want to show up in a suit and crap if he is just expecting just a quick type of meeting...like a pre-interview?

I hate this job thing....

I would prepare yourself as if it were an interview. I wouldn't contact them again until after the meeting on Thursday.

you could hedge your bets and wear something dressy but not as dressy as a suit, like khakis, a dress shirt, and a tie (obv. with shoes, not sneakers, and a matching belt)

yea...I was thinking along the same line. This way, I can't be screwed either way.

thanks

He is thinking what i was thinking.......GOOD LUCK!!

You should assume it's an interview and dress as you would dress on the job. Nobody ever didn't get hired because they overdressed for an interview...

First impressions are important. Wear something nice.

Thanks ppl. The more I thought about it, the more I realized...It's better safe than sorry. I guess I'm over thinking too much lol

Consider that a very good sign the fact that they replied to your email and asked you to meet with them. They want to speak to you - call it interview or something else - so be prepared and don't call them just show up as arranged. Good luck, hope you get the job.
