John Kasich, who is polling in the low single digits and is not ever going to win a Republican primary but nevertheless is the most impressive moderate Republican in the field

says Trump will not be the nominee

The Washington Post is calling for Republican leaders to state publicly that they would never support Trump as their nominee

The impossibility of a Trump nomination is well appreciated, and has been well noted in this forum over the past several months.

What is remarkable is the love and support that ordinary Republicans continue to give to an obvious clown; not despite his hatred for mankind but because of it. The more racism, xenophobia, misogyny, Islamophobia, and homophobia that spews from his mouth, the higher Trump soars in Republican polls.

It is sobering to realize who is the Republican of 2015. We are not the noble people we like to imagine ourselves. Or, at least, half of us are not those people.

Or the idea that those who are "involved" in the primary process are the lowest common denominator

I do understand the appeal of an "outsider"
I do understand the appeal of someone who says what he thinks (regardless of the content) as refreshing

Combine that with a Jeb Bush who is a miserable communicator and frankly a group of men + Fiorina that are not well known

Herman Cain lead for quite a while too and we know what happened there

It is pathetic but the bolded is incorrect. It's actually much less.

Republicans are only about 28% of the electorate. Democrats are around 30% and Independents 39%. Now obviously among Independents many lean one way or the other. But even going by the combined 42% that lean Republican, Trump's roughly 30% support of Republican voters would work out to only 12.6% of the population overall.

This is why, even if somehow he won the nomination, he has no chance whatsoever to win the presidency.

^ Agree that Trump has no chance of winning the presidency, even if the Republicans should (impossibly) nominate him. But, Republicans are always assured of at least 45% of the vote in any national election, regardless of who are the candidates.

The Republicans could nominate Hitler against the Democrats' Jesus Christ. Hitler would still get 45% of the vote. (And ALL of the evangelical Christians would vote for Hitler!).

I can see the poster - almost like one before a heavyweight prize fight

HITLER VS. JESUS

LOL

Make that "at least half of us are not those people". Most people vote for stupid reasons, and more than that vote with no respect for other people's liberty, regardless of party.

A couple of weeks ago Bernie polled at twenty points over Trump; now it's only half that. Hillary is polling barely over Trump.

BTW, if it were Hitler v Christ, I think someone in the middle would form a new party and win.

Hillary and Sanders cannot continue to ignore the 500lb immigration/"refugee" gorilla without becoming irrelevant. They cannot even assume that their minority base will be willing to ignore those problems, merely because the white politically correct elite are indifferent to the problems caused.

How about unemployment, declining middle class wealth, gun deaths and education costs?

Only racist hicks and retirement home dwellers care about immigration above all else. Especially when immigration levels are relatively low.

"THE DONALD' IS SCARING THE FUCK OUT OF ME.

Simply put, America, if you elect Donald Trump, you have just irrevocably committed suicide..

What's next after registering Muslims? Roundups and concentration camps? Revocation of citizenship and automatic expulsion? To...where? To Syria where somebody's great-grandparents came from? Is there any reason that might stop gay people from being next?

After all, TO THEM, any repression or pogrom against gay people is entirely fine and wonderful, because there is (other than marriage) no federal law OF ANY KIND that protects GLBT people.

Mercifully, the old scurrilous argument of "no special rights for gay people" seems to have died out.

And I also noticed that his speech, live from South Carolina, was on CNN, Fox Business, and MSNBC.

FUCK YOU, MSNBC. And all the rest. The media is 100% hate-mongering, with barely even a shred of anything progressive anywhere...no, not if even MSNBC has to make absolutely sure that Donald Trump gets an entirely free campaign run.

I remember with great fondness, when we actually had a Fairness Doctrine, Equal time for other viewpoints, as much as practical.

I can't believe the complete cognitive dissonance of those who actually dare to think that our media is liberal.

The democrat media are giving time to Trump because it brings viewers, but more importantly, they expect that he will say stupid things to discredit him.

And, behold the massive recruitment and resultant THRIVING of ISIS, along with other horrific groups that don't even exist yet, as Trump quintuples (and more, and more) down on his idea of BANNING A RELIGION.

If he gets elected, is there still not some other planet that I can move to?

The democrat media are giving time to Trump because it brings viewers, but more importantly, they expect that he will say stupid things to discredit him.

And that just may happen. As he keeps "getting away with" comments more and more extreme (e. g. torturing or bombing FAMILIES of people who **might** be terrorists), he doesn't know how to draw the line and he'll get more and more extreme. It wouldn't surprise me if he came out with the idea of internment camps and torture for liberals or Democrats...disguised as a "joke" of course, or he'll say he was taken out of context.

I also just heard a clarification where his campaign sasys that, YES, if an AMERICAN CITIZEN who happens to be Muslim is traveling overseas, THAT PERSON WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK INTO THE UNITED STATES,

Why does he HATE America, and its constitution, so much?

BAD AND SICK PUN ALERT: He is causing some führer [furor] with all these comments.
