^ These kinds of sentiments are interesting to me - they are common enough in the
Johnny Rapid thread (or for any gay porn star who is "actually straight" and gay-for-pay), but for me, this knowledge about Johnny being straight makes his scenes just as hot (or actually
hotter). Why? Well, I'm not under any false illusion that he's letting a "deep down gay side" come out, or exploring some bi-curious vibe - it's been established, basically, that he's doing this for the money. But it's hot to me that a straight dude is doing something that's identified with gay activities - think of how many straight guys would be like "No way!" and mortified about taking something up the butt. Plus, it's porn; it's performing and selling a fiction on-screen. If one of its stars isn't actually gay, that doesn't kill it for me - I think it's cool, even
novel. I kind of like the contradiction of a straight dude working in a full-time career as a gay porn performer - and being so
good at it.
Plus it's hard to fantasize that the scenes have any reality when one of the participants is apparently faking so hard.
Yeah, but it's entertainment. I can watch, I don't know, Bruce Willis in "Die Hard" any number of times and I don't
actually believe Willis is a New York cop stopping bad guys on a building around Christmas, but that doesn't mean it's a solid, even "classic" action film, and I don't enjoy watching it and his portrayal of that character each time around. Is it different with sex scenes? Maybe it's an activity we feel more intimate and personal, and therefore some viewers feel should be influenced by the porn star's everyday life and activities - to me, it's an entire production and performance, calculated to sell a scenario.
Besides, think of it this way to put a spin on things: we can see practically
every time he takes it up the butt (minus, perhaps, rehearsals or botched/unreleased scenes/takes) right there in front of us for our viewing pleasure. I'm sure his chick isn't doing that to him at home on nights/weekends.
Some of these porn stars "really get around" in their free time. Johnny's devoted this activity exclusively to his career and
art, lol.
