I'm trying to join a 10-part video (.avi.001, .avi.002, etc.) I've tried to use MacHacha but have had no luck. Only the first part will play unless I can join the rest of the parts together.

What software are you using? Thanks

are you sure the .001 files etc are really just splitted parts of the video? or was it maybe a multi volume rar file?

I'd like an answer to that question too. And yes,the parts are truly spilt. Haven't been able to find a Mac based app that works.

oh um .. well.
if they are just split you just need to copy one file after another into a big file.
i believe even ms dos 5 or earlier could do that. a pity if a mac still can't do that ..

I use MacHacha and haven't come across any problem. You need to make sure that ALL the files are located together... like in the same folder or on your desktop. Then only drag the first one onto the MacHacha application and then it should join them all. Or click on the first file (ending in .001) and click apple+i. Go to the section "open with" and select MacHacha and then "change all". Close that window. Go back to the .001 file and double click it. Then it should join them all.

By now somebody has already suggested this, but I work on a Mac and the only foolproof program for joining the pieces is HJSplit. Go to http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/ and you will find the program for every platform. Just scroll down and you will find a java-script program for the Mac. Works everytime for me.

Or if that doesn't work you could open Terminal, navigate to the folder you have the file parts in, and type the command

cat file.avi.001 file.avi.002 ... file.avi.010 > file.avi

This worked just fine. Thanks for the suggestion.
