He's NOT a Republican when it comes to:

Environment
Gay Marriage
Foreign Policy (let's get out of Afghanistan)

He's been running to the left of Mitt Romney - who can't get it done as we see now - so how will Jon H do it?

Well he has to do well in NH - third place at worst - with Mitt not winning BIG or not winning

He needs to show that Romney CANNOT get the nomination - that Newt CANNOT win the general

so if the repubs really want to WIN ..............

Newt is unelectable nationally - everyone BUT the republican primary voters know it - but as polls come out showing him getting trounced by Obama ........ time to pivot

but Mitt is ....... unloved - unreliable - w/o a core - what does he really stand for

I sorta like him - and much prefer him to Barack Obama who is a fraud and unworthy of re-election

I like Jon Huntsman. He's the only one I could see myself voting for over Barack Obama. To quote Bill Clinton "Jon Huntsman is actually qualified to be president".

I like Huntsman, but him getting the nomination makes too much sense for the Republican voters.

He's too far to the Left for them ... and (gasp!) ... he's a Mormon. Him and Romney can have a long talk after the Primaries are over about why the GOP voters refuse to nominate them under any circumstance.

It becomes apparent that Newt can't beat Obama

but that Romney is not palatable ........

I heard recently that the Jan-Feb-March primaries are all "partials" not winner take alls so that wins are not as big and losses aren't as devastating

I like Huntsman, between all the Republicans & Obama he is the best candidate.

I'm disappointed in Obama. I feel like he didn't use the "bully pulpit" effectively, and didn't tackle many issues when he had the majority in both houses. Though he made great progress on health care & financial reform, both got slightly neutered.

Even worse, we somehow went into this health care debate with the majority wanting reform and left with the majority wishing it would go away (regardless of the benefits we already see). That's the sign of a bad salesman. A bad salesman may as well be a bad President in this country.

I'm also scared he will sign the new defense bill that would allow detention without trial, which seems like something most Democrats (if not people in general) would be against.

Even as a foreigner, I have some respect for John Huntsman. He was a former US Embassador to China, and knows how to handle her. On the more controversial issues, he's a moderate, he believes in science and reasoning, he's not a pulpit preacher and he's not too bad on the eyes either.

If he were the candidate to lead the Republicans, he would unfortunately have a horrible job doing so. His outlook is outnumbered by the rabid right wingers ensconced in their political apparatus that he'll find it hard to control them.

As a candidate though, he would gain some sympathy from former Obama supporters. If he was president and both houses of congress were Democrats, he'd get a lot of work done for the betterment of the US, and because of his China experience, he could stand up to her on the international scene too.

He's a Mormon. He served the Obama administration and he's too far left.

other than on gay marriage and climate change, he's pretty much a standard Republican.

it's pretty clear that Huntsman doesn't have a chance in hell, but I suspect that he's running for VP or 2016, when the national race will be more competitive. unseating a sitting president is a pretty tough proposition.

Nevertheless it is pleasing to me that one candidate in the Republican line up appears as a viable option (IMHO) for those voting Republican when comparing him with the scary alternatives.

I do not believe that Huntsman's religion will have any bearing on his performance, were he to be elected as POTUS when understanding that similar misgivings were expressed when John Kennedy was campaigning.

I don't know him enough to say whether I would vote for him. If what the hype around here says is true then I would be more than willing to give him a look.

If we had a option that had a conservative viewpoint that wanted less govt, equality in taxation, the state to get out of the way of Same Sex marriage, Infrastructure spending, strong military support, renewed understanding of regulation and it's role.... well with all that i would vote for it in a second.

So what I need is a capable LEADER who believes these things....

To be the odd man out. He is the best looking rep candidate by far. I seen him on The View this week and i had to watch his interview just to a better look. I hope he Realizes he doesn't stand a chance of winning. At best he should support Mitt to get a shot at the VP slot

I don't see Huntsman going anywhere -- he's got the same boring persona as Romney.

He's a favorite of MSNBC and many left wing journalists.

The LDS essentially paid for the campaign to overthrow Prop 8 and in doing so bought their way into acceptance by the Christian Right. This is the biggest factor in why Romney or Huntsman can be elected.

When Catholic John F. Kennedy was campaigning for the presidential election his Republican Party opponents declared that the pope would call the shots were Kennedy elected as POTUS.

History proved the Republicans totally wrong, and remote from the reality that was Jack Kennedy's administration.

Huntsman would make a powerful opponent for Obama, were he to win the Republican Party nomination.

Huntsman's wife is Episcopalian and they've maintained a dual religion relationship throughout their marriage. When you see them both interviewed you get the impression that while Huntsman is still a Mormon he's not all that serious about it as compared to Romney. I don't think being a Mormon is nearly as big an issue for Huntsman. Besides, Harry Reid is a Mormon too and he's completely on the other end of the political spectrum.
