Jon Huntsman Path To Victory

The polls say otherwise. Many conservative Christians don't even like Romney and think he's not conservative enough. Maybe that doesn't have much to do with his religion, but still your logic is off here.

I can't speak for polls, only for what I see and hear in the conservative movements. They aren't concerned about Romney being a Morman, because you hit it right on the head on Romney, its not his religion that is the problem, the RINO Hunters have their sights on him. Most of the conservative talk I hear, except for the really far right nut cases, downplay and dismiss the handful of RRR folks who pop up with the "Morman's are satanists" rant. Yes you do hear the "I'll never vote for heathen Morman" talk but it isn't the mainstream of the conservative viewpoint right now.

^ It will never be Gingrich. The Party bosses will break open the seven seals to make sure it isn't him.

And we're all agreed it won't be Huntsman.

It will be Romney.

Eventually the OP will have to write a paean of purple prose for the 'Great White Hope' of 2012.

the idea of the thread and the position of the op is NOT

that Huntsman is well poised or will win or even might win

but HOW he could

that Gingrich is finally perceived as unelectable - a true sentiment to all but .......

that Romney for whatever reason(s) is not supportable

Huntsman is last man standing
who can make an argument - and a good one - that he could appeal to the reasonable electorate who does NOT believe in the current president and is looking for a reason NOT to vote for him

Huntsman is a qualified and sober individual who may not get the repub base excited but is electable

which is what it should be all about for the republicans

they seem to have missed that point somehow

Chance1, keep wishing... Huntsman lacks one big thing. Name recognition. Plus he's not "conservative" enough to attract the base. So perhaps he may be electable in a sense, but winning the primaries is another story.

no not now

bachman, santorum will soon by bye bye

less candidates more air in the room

gingrich talking every day means more things that make people say "why'd he say that?"

ed rollins on fox now just said that most voters make their decisions last minute

who is wedded to newt? how could u be?

clearly romney is not loved

who's left?

i am assuming that the republican establishment desperately wants to WIN

and must realize right now they're not gonna

sanity rules

is the concept

but it's just a concept

not a prediction

I've been ignoring this thread because the idea seems ludicrous. But today I saw a Libertarian item where there's an effort to get a Johnson/Huntsman ticket for the LP, and I thought, "What the heck".

But I don't see any path for him winning unless Gingrich gets caught with another woman, Romney admits he plans on being a god and ruling his own planet, and Paul has a heart attack -- unless maybe he could convince Paul to join him as veep.

What strikes me, though, is something I read a while back in one of those educated doctor's-office magazines: choices made through several levels of representation are less likely to be extremist. That's what used to happen in politics for choosing presidential candidates, but with effectively direct election, we are, predictably, getting extremists.
