It was brilliant.

Jon Stewart delivers one knockout punch after another in the showdown with CNBC
business bingo callers like Jim Cramer of 'Mad Money'.

I think this was even better than when he tore through CNN and got Crossfire killed and Tucker Carlson fired or when he helped bring down the treasonous douchebag Robert Novak.

Have a look at the show.

Stewart articulates the anger that a lot of people rightfully feel toward the 'legitimate' news networks who colluded in the biggest ripoff of people who have lost all their savings and pensions.

I saw it, it gave me chills all of a sudden to see John go serious like that.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching Cramer squirm and think that apologizing made up for everything...

^^ Umm, to answer your question, see the many who get their news from the daily show.

WHY did it require a fucking comedian to call MSNBC on the carpet about how they've played a major role in bringing down the economy?

Is journalism dead?
That would be CNBC, which is a financial news station(allegedly,it seems)

Jim Cramer comes off so awkward and scared in the interview. The way he was so apologetic to Jon shows how easily persuaded he is and how he'll give into anyone who is assertive with him. He hardly even tried to stick up for himself.

I don't think Jim Cramer was at all prepared and did not know what hit him. He was probably thinking that Jon Stewart was going to make a joke of all the "shanigans" going on in the world of high finance. Instead, Jon came out shooting and had lots of ammunition! "Roll tape 2612!

Is journalism dead?

Hmm.

I don't think it's dead, but it IS going through a bit of a revolution.

America and it's finances are resetting themselves. I'm not buying Mr. Cramer's 'performance' for one minute. That entire 'tail between his legs' affect is a bunch of horseshit. He was one of many foxes guarding the hen house that got caught.

Yes, Jon Stewart seems an unlikely whistleblower, but you have to remember that a large majority of the under 21 crowd gets it's news from 'The Daily Show'.

Things will 'shake out' as they always have.

I think it IS a sad state of affairs when the comedy shows are the ones pointing out the facts...

and the news shows are glossing over them.

Like we are going back to Medieval times when the Court Jester was the one that told the truth

>>>WHY did it require a fucking comedian to call MSNBC on the carpet about how they've played a major role in bringing down the economy? Is journalism dead?

Because if it came from some other source, we - as a nation - wouldn't read it, watch it, or pay any attention to it.

Yes, journalism is dead (or at least on life support). And it's dead because we - as a nation - killed it. We vote with our feet, with our eyes, and with our remotes. And what have we - as a nation - demanded?

"We want coverage of celebrities and WWIP (white women in peril). We don't want to think about big or unpleasant things - just simple things that are easy to understand. Also, we'd like a news channel that caters specifically to my point of view, so I can feel good about the beliefs I already hold, and so those beliefs are never challenged, even if they may be on shaky ground."

We - as a nation - don't WANT news. We want TMZ.

I thought Cramer was going to break down and cry like a little girl, I LOVED IT!
I have to say though, it took balls to go up againist Stewart.
It just shows the relevance of The Daily Show, a comedy show for sure
but Oh so much more.

Man, can you imagine Bush or Cheney going head to head with Stewart.
They would have both wet their pants and cried for their mommy's

I there have been many times when the clown was the one who said the king has no clothes. Stewart is brilliant and, yes, I believe the news media does NOT do its job. If it had, we wouldn't have suffered through 8 years of Bush, because that SOB would have been impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.

Cramer looked like he was in a disciplinary interview with his boss and about to get sacked.

The Daily Show seems to be about the only programme which will take the time to look things up and will say to those in power that what they are saying/proposing is hypocritical bullshit. Very Telling that it took Jon Stewart to point ouit that what the Daly Show does is tell jokes and what Cramer did was tell people where to put their life savings and to invest like sheep in funds making unrealistic profits without taking the time to look at where the profits were coming from. Making an entertainment style show which gives investment advice on a supposedly serious financial news channel is dangerously irresponsible at best, criminal at worst.

I too was amazed how Cramer just rolled over and took the criticism. But it's time someone called CNBC on the carpet. They are partly responsible, making stock picking popular and entertaining. I'm reading John Bogle's (The conscience of Wall Street and the founder of the Vanguard group) new book "Enough". And it's a pretty damning tale against all fo the Wall St establishment.

i don't know about the daily show as a source of news, but stewart did make a good point. people watch CNBC as a source of accurate information, they trust it. when the information is poor, people suffer from that. is management being held responsible, or are they hiding behind the, "this is for entertainment purposes only". idea?

I generally stopped watching news on TV and read sparsely some news I can get on Yahoo and WSJ.

Honestly though, if you have to get financial advice from the TV you have much bigger problems.

As an aside, if you got paid 6/7 figures and other incentives to be a puppet demagogue, you probably would be one too.

It is too bad that Stewart can't win an Emmy for this show. Maybe it will get him a Pulitzer instead.

I think that when you watch the clips of Cramer on some webcast, basically admitting that he not only knows, but participates in the 'morally dubious' practices that have devastated the savings of millions and then goes on his program to shill for Wall Street...he deserves to be taken down.
