A stunning and very alarming report has emerged involving the Duggar family.

According to a recently uncovered police report, Josh Duggar, one of the many stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, allegedly molested five girls — some of whom, were reportedly his sisters — starting in 2002. He was around 14 at the time.

Josh, 27, issued a statement to People in response to the allegations: "Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life."

He continued, "I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life. In my life today, I am so very thankful for God's grace, mercy and redemption."

Josh has resigned as Executive Director of the Family Research Council.

NO FUCKING WAY!!!! Oh man! How horrible for the victims but, Ha ha ha! Every time I, "failed" as a parent, my mother would say, "The Duggers can handle 19 kids and you can't even control two."
 
Was Mama 'Honey Boo Boo' June religious? I know the Roloffs were, and Jeremy got the family in deep trouble with a homophobic rant. I haven't watched TLC in years, but they don't seem to have a very good track record with religious families being very un-religious. What channel was Sarah Palin on?

Quite astounding. Not that I ever watched the show regularly, but I've often caught the odd glimpses and the occasional full episode. Enough to know the lifestyle they (literally) preached to others.

I *never* bought the facade of the sugar-sweet, glorious, wonderfully happy Christian family. I always wondered and suspected that something sinister might be going on.

But my suspicion was that it was the father that might be doing exactly this kind of thing.

I even knew (or I remember now) that one of the eldest sons went off to this new job at a 'Family' foundation (i.e. hardline Christian lobbyists) - it's the same guy, the quote from gsdx at the last line says he's resigned.

SUCH hypocrisy. He goes off and presumes to lecture and criticise others, no doubt about 'morals' and 'family values' and never tells anyone he was groping and fiddling with his own sisters.

The linked article has a statement from the family where they STILL try to preach and attempt to take the superior high ground. Ridiculous.

I can more see how American JUBbers feel now, I'm guessing they have to put up with this type of Christian hypocrisy and propagandist bullshit week in week out.
 
Hopefully this will start to flip the kill switch on the Duggars like it did for Honey Boo Boo.

At the very least, it will detach the FRC from the fund raising potential of these fundie famewhores and tarnish the FRC brand at the same time.

Apparently Josh's father, Jim Bob, was made aware of the incidents in March 2002, but he did not alert the police. In July 2002, Josh admitted to fondling a minor's breasts again, but Jim Bob still did not contact authorities.

It is delicious irony that it was 'In Touch' magazine that obtained the police report and broke the story.
 
Jim Bob sent him to be counselled by a family friend, a state policeman, who's now doing 56 years in prison for kiddie porn. They also sent him to a church friend for therapy, which consisted of working as a labourer for the guys home remodelling business.

Josh apparently did it several times to 4 of his sisters and one unrelated little girl.

I bet Jim Bob was pissed because he was cutting in on his territory.
 
There is no story. He was 14 at the time. Now arseholes want to criminalize playing doctor? Of course it's only because he supposedly believes in the Big Man in the Sky that he's a target of the tolerant and broadminded.

He was 14 and sexually interfering with his sisters. There is no such thing as 'playing doctor' after pubescence.

A little old to be 'playing doctor', don't you think?

And, the acts/crimes to which he has confessed were not consensual.

Further more, had his parents and 'church elders' gone through proper channels, and not acted as though they are above the law, or that they are the law, his case would never have seen the light of day. This information/case would have been protected by the legal system/courts – kept confidential/out of public view due to Josh's age.

He has only his parents and their hokey 'religious beliefs' to thank for this sordid mess.

He was 14. Four of the 5 girls he 'played doctor' with were his sisters. Do the math. When he was 14, his youngest sister at that time was only 3 years old.

Nope. No story here.
 
All the major GOP candidates have come to his defense, they give free pass to moral Christian family value straight molesters.
 
Not arguing about religion in general, Evangelicalism in particular, or large families...

You may not do mischief to me and seek the forgiveness of God or any other third party. You must be reconciled to me first. this I believe is the teaching of Christianity.

The network sparked outrage Thursday after airing a marathon of the reality series hours after Duggar’s confession.

TLC has pulled 19 Kids and Counting from its schedule in the wake of star Josh Duggar’s admission that he molested several underage girls 12 years ago, including his sisters.

TLC refused to comment on the incident Thursday, but the network sparked outrage later that evening when it ran a 19 Kids and Countingmarathon. As of early Friday, the show had been scheduled to air on themorning of May 27, but it has since been taken off the schedule.
