JUB Awards 2007 - General Feedback Thread

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I think my brain is going to melt-down just trying to figure out who to vote for in the "most cynical queen" category!!!

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I'm going to suggest we remove categories such as hottest jubber, nicest jubber, stuff like that. They are purely popularity things, and won't really go down well. I like the idea of more specific awards, though, definitely, like most flirtatious, etc.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I am joking around.

I hope you are joking because I have to enforce a strict rule of no campaigning as it will cause too much trouble. If anybody does campaign they will not be allowed to participate in the awards. If somebody nominates a disqualified person for an award, that nomination will not be included. A disqualified person cannot vote either, so basically if you are disqualified you can't take part all together.

I know this is just for fun but if campaigning occurs it will become to heated and serious.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Go for it. Add best gallery to your list. Best gay story. Thanks for taking charge.

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I'd say for somebody above probably you should have secret nominations and narrow it down with votes

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Overall so far, 15 people have shown interest. As I said I need at least 75 so I'll give it until Sunday/Monday. I really should have included a poll with this thread so that I could get an exact number.

I was thinking and I believe that the best way to nominate would be to PM me with a list of the categories with your nominations for each alongside.
If I get enough interest I will inform you when to begin nominating. If anyone disagrees with this method or can think of a more appropriate way (bearing in mind that I would prefer to keep the whole thing in this one thread) don't hesitate to post.
i think you should keep this thread or polling time open for at least a week or two. - and maybe make a yellow sticky for it so it is showing for a longer period of time.

also, this weekend is a three day holiday in the states (colonies) and a lot of the American voters will be gone for the weekend.

also i would like to see this thread mailed out to more members via using the e-mail option - you will reach more members that way.

how about providing members with a list of categories to begin with and then give them the option to add 2-4 more - so that we do not end up with excessive categories.

what ever happens i think you have done a fine service for everyone and this could be a lot of fun - of course that opinion is based on the fact that i had better win in at least one category or else i am going to go get my teddy bear and ](*,)](*,)

just some friendly suggestions of the local village idiot.](*,)

This better not be a spin on my possibly Daily yet sporadic post of the day star!

i second the motion. your points are well made. by the way i had a bit of a problem voting in the poll you established already. might i suggest that that poll be made part of this thread and thus you could get some results sooner.

just more useless comments by the local village idiot who is bored out of his mind.](*,)

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Why isn't Elvin nominated?
And RRRalph?
And Rational Lunacy?

I swear to God, I am THIS close to deleting my account.
Don't overreact man.

Good idea ..|

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I'll be the dissenting vote.

Yes these threads can be fun for some, but not usually fun for the larger group.

It is usually the same well known posters involved in all threads like these.

The lesser known posters then feel more alienated from JUB.

I'm going along with Scrub on this. Regardless of the name of the category , it is just another glorified popularity contest.
People will feel alienated, and those with fragile egos or self esteem will be ready to self destruct.
Not worth it.
If it deemed to be something others want to do, then I also sugest it gets put into F&G as it's not a "hot topic".

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

I would agree, it is purely a fun and games thing.

"First the Dodo marked out a race-course, in a sort of circle, and then all the party were placed along the course, here and there. There was no "One, two, three and away!" but they began running when they liked and left off when they liked, so that it was not easy to know when the race was over. However, when they had been running half an hour or so and were quite dry again, the Dodo suddenly called out, "The race is over!" and they all crowded 'round it, panting and asking, "But who has won?"

This question the Dodo could not answer without a great deal of thought. At last it said, "Everybody has won, and all must have prizes."

"But who is to give the prizes?" quite a chorus of voices asked."

Who wants to be Alice?

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Re: The JUB Awards 2007

Hmmmm....

While I do think there is good behind the idea, I don't think that goose will fly anymore.

From my time here at JUB, I've noticed something:

Regardless of whatever the TRUE answer is, the one who is better known is given the accolades.

So, while it's a nice idea...Its not entirely representative or accurate...

Ultimately, I vote nay for the idea.

Yes, ultimately it will mostly belong to the better known Jubbers. The ones who are the most visible and post the most.

But it was fun when we had the last contest here. The whole place came alive. In the end it didn't matter who won......it was just a blast.

I say go for it. What else are we doing here?

IT is just another popularity contest..........(*S*)
