^ thanks .......... I guess ;)

man that's a painful listen Jay

not sure if the singing or the instrumentation is worse - six of one ...

is someone squeezing hank's nuts as he sings? LOL

let's step this bad boy up shall we ?

Gearing up for tricking and treating tomorrow... this is one of my favorite Halloween-themed songs. This goes out to all of my Halloweenheads out there... ;)

had not heard this one ........... thanks ........ dig it ....... and the "timing"

what are you going as?

this is a ryan adams song that i obsessed on a few years ago - played it over and over

"i used to be sad now i'm just bored with u" ;)

^ Sweet... totally my type of song.

Trying to pull off Morrissey this year... which reminds me of my FAVORITE Mozz video of ALL-TIME. I think the top comment on YouTube sums it up pretty succinctly ;):

If i had this and gay porn up and somebody walked in on me id switch to gay porn because it would be easier to explain.

Unfortunately... this is not my outfit... ;)

And you?

I'm not sure why I'm tripping on FUN right now. Maybe it's their appearance on SNL last Saturday, but I'm digging what I've heard so far. :)

I love how a song can help tell a personal story, narrate a moment in our lives, or just be something that we feel that we can related to in any given circumstance that might be evolving in our lives.

Lyrics:

Carry on
Well I woke up to the sound of silence
The cars were cutting like knives in a fist fight
And I found you with a bottle of wine
Your head in the curtains
And heart like the fourth of July

You swore and said
We are not
We are not shining stars
This I know
Cause I never said we are

Though I've never been through hell like that
I've closed enough windows
To know you can never look back

If you're lost and alone
Or you're sinking like a stone
Carry on
May your past be the sound
Of your feet upon the ground
Carry on

Carry on, carry on

So I met up with some friends
At the edge of the night
At a bar off 75
And we talked and talked
About how our parents will die
All our neighbours and wives
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/f/fun/carry+on_20989899.html ]
But I like to think
I can cheat it all
To make up for the times I've been cheated on
And it's nice to know
When I was left for dead
I was found and now I don't roam these streets
I am not the ghost you want of me

If you're lost and alone
Or you're sinking like a stone
Carry on
May your past be the sound
Of your feet upon the ground
Carry on

Woah
My head is on fire
But my legs are fine
Cause after all they are mine
Lay your clothes down on the floor
Close the door
Hold the phone
Show me how
No one's ever gonna stop us now

Cause we are
We are shining stars
We are invincible
We are who we are
On our darkest day
When we're miles away
So we'll come
We will find our way home

If you're lost and alone
Or you're sinking like a stone
Carry on
May your past be the sound
Of your feet upon the ground
Carry on

Carry on, carry on

Been stuck on these guys recently.....

It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's land

So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

this whole song really rings true for me in so many ways... loss, love and life

Actually a lot of their music hits home for me....

Serve God love me and men
This is not the end
Live unbruised we are friends
And I'm sorry

I'm sorry

Sigh no more, no more
One foot in sea one on shore
My heart was never pure
You know me

You know me

And man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing
Oh man is a giddy thing

Love that will not betray you,
dismay or enslave you,
It will set you free
Be more like the man
you were made to be.

There is a design,
An alignment to cry,
At my heart you see,
The beauty of love
as it was made to be (x3)

just saw 50/50 on cable - not bad

joseph gordon levitt is in it which by default makes it good

really dig "fake plastic trees" but this is a close 2nd

Sick to death of down right terrible lyrics with catchy pop songs that come out now, if I want poetry in my music, I turn to one of my top 5 favorite bands, The Hush Sound...

Echo - The Hush Sound

You are the lighthouse, the seamark
The tempests created this tide
I'm pulled to the black silver ocean
Where the current and the heavens collide

You are the brick
I am so unpredictable
Led by the current away
Your solid stage is so necessary to save
All those who stray

You are the navigator who never could lead
We were lost in the silver sea
I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink.

I am your thought but the water is amnesia
My name is on the tip of your tongue
My image is slipping
But your memory is gripping it
This is my breath in your lungs

You are the navigator who never could lead
We were lost in the silver sea
I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink.

Echo, my voice is an echo
Of places I don't know
And stories I've been told

Echo. We all are connected
A lighthouse a voyage
For history's sake,
Will you please take notice?

Speaking of rawness and fun - used to love me some Punkabilly! Someone has LA'd him up in this video but the lead singer is really hot in that totally rednecky, trashy way, you just know he'd get you high and drunk on cheap beer, use cheesy lines, drive you down to the cattle tank on the back forty, and do unspeakable things to you in the bed of his pick up truck.

Well... I know why I am tripping on Fun. Nate Ruess...what a voice and gorgeous too. I'm digging the rawness and "fun" of this song from their first album:

]

that voice ......... i remember it

this is a another (of many) songs that i found and couldn't stop listening

a foot tapper x a lot

it's poppy x 10

but i don't care

My favorite performance by anyone in the past ten years...

Bettye LaVette...from a Tribute to The Who singing Love Reign O'er Me

she is so fucking good...

SOo0oooo.... It's very late and I'm just a tad inebriated. Been a long week what with all the champagne and celebration.

and yeah, I desperate need someone to tell me why that Patti Page woman looks like Mick Jagger's long lost twin sister.

OK another contribution, first heard this on a demo handed out way back when in a club in WEHO....

Kinda pretentious, but I banged a bunch of Twinkies to this - oh be careful I don't think the YouTube uploader had a functional knowledge of French - butchered the title.

Can't forget the lesbians. First heard this one early 90's studying abroad in Italy. Still reminds me of furriners - and incidentally was the genesis of my lesbian ears.
