One last one before the next round coming up. Taken at the World Trade Center site, of the completed World Trade Center 420130927_175442_resized_1.jpg

As if on cue, lol... but alas, my technical skills on the computer are very minimal, so no photoshop!;)

Great photos Sausy.

I think Palbert has a look of Gore Vidal in this one. ;)

Pics at last! (!)

Interesting to see what chance1 looks like! Is he coming back to CE&P? Frank and Ted I've met before. :)

One more for now, taken in Lower Manhattan as we got lunch in at George's Diner, near the World Trade Center and quite good. It was taken by Criostoir, who requested his pic not be shown on the actual boards. He is real, folks...we assure you!;)
View attachment 989913From left... Frankfrank, Rickrock, Laney (The Spectating Loner) and myself. The Spectating Loner could only meet with us before his shift started at his job but we thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and enjoying a great lunch together. Just sorry rapidly changing plans kept us from meeting again with him for awhile on Saturday at the Brooklyn Arts Festival.

Another pic of NaughtyArousal (TSL) and he seems fine, I haven't seen a bad pic of him, despite him always bemoaning his appearance, I think he looks great! :D

Wish that Criostoir could have been in the pic as I've always wondered what he looks like too. Someone give me a verbal description of him.

And also how DO you say 'Criostoir'? I've always pronouced it....'Croysh-chur'....but I will stand corrected. ..|

Away back in January I was vaguely floating the idea of taking a NY trip for that spring, but it came to nothing - especially after I discovered the cost. :dead:

Maybe I'll make it back to the States one day though! ;)

It was a great time. All the guys I met were just absolutely charming, and hanging out with you all was terrific. I'm just sorry the timings didn't work out for Saturday or Sunday.

I'd never actually been to the 9/11 memorial before; I'm glad I had company.

it really is septemberfest...just sayin

Oktoberfest is in September even in Germany. October is too cold.

I got in touch with Criostoir too late (with my changed plans) for him to meet me during the afternoon.

Yeah, sorry about that. I reached my limit for sun exposure and walking around before you found out about your plans changing. I actually crashed for a few hours there.

I am! It's really true. :-)

He's a very attractive man. Seriously.

Ever seen the Crypt Keeper from the TV show Tales from the Crypt? Like that, only FAT. :jk:

"CHRIS-tore" is close enough. [Discourse about Irish Gaelic pronunciation deleted here.]

I've always imagined you look like the singer from Freak Power (mid 1990's)

Based on nothing except an avatar of an eye (presumably yours) that you once had, where it somehow reminded me of him in the music video.

"CHRIS-tore" is close enough. [Discourse about Irish Gaelic pronunciation deleted here.]

Ha! I used Gaelic too for my guess - only it was Scottish Gaelic, not Irish Gaelic. ;)

(although strictly speaking it'd be probably be 'CREE-ish-chihr' if I followed that pronounciation)

well then it's improperly named, it's misleading and it's false advertising....

NO Oktoberfest in October?????????? :grrr: Next thing you guys will be telling me is that there are NO oompa loompas in an oompa band!!!:(

Looks like fun. Maybe we need a DC shutdown meet!

We're honored to have accompanied you, Criostoir. Definitely very moving and worthwhile, especially you seeing the names engraved of those coworkers who died in the North Tower that had made such an impression on you. Very reflective, pastoral, respectful setting in remembrance to those who passed. You were a delight and pleasure to have met and it would have been so nice to have spent more time, but that you could join us in what was a truly moving and memorable afternoon definitely meant a great deal to us. A very intelligent, funny and complex guy... lol, the Crypt Keeper self description is so untrue... definitely doesn't do you justice!

You're so right about The Spectating Loner (formerly Naughty Arousal and The Fallen Asexual)... he really is a much more attractive person then he appears to think about himself, and was very personable and engaging in our meeting. Indeed everyone we met was a pleasure, just want next time for enough personal flexibility for a longer meet. It would be wonderful to have Chicken Guy and other interested Jubbers join us for a full weekend of fun in the Big Apple!

Well, once we found out your name meaning it was quickly self evident! Just got to remember NOT to call you Chris!

Great photos Sausy.

Palbert is a tour de force.... so intelligent, common sensical, and funny! And goodness, does he LOVE his Jim Beam... two other places didn't have it, one not in stock and the other not carrying it entirely. The Beer Garden was a charm though as he was able to get some there... and it put him in an obviously giddy mood as these pics show!;)

A number of pics still to go for today and tomorrow.... World Trade Center/ Memorial pics up first today to come a little later.

Chicken Guy, as for Chance coming back.... can't really say but we were all very glad to have the "chance" to meet up with him for more than an hour and a half. The Beer Garden was a great meeting place... seeing the sights of the city is great, but the opportunities for great conversation and interaction really make JUB meets special. It was so much fun and so glad we took the train to Queens from Manhattan and spent some time enjoying his company.

Before I put up some WTC area pics got this model of the huge expanse of building on the West Side that is about to begin. Some impressive towers in the Central Park area, soaring, narrow and elegant are going up or deep in the planning stages right now. In the next decade, an already amazing skyline in Manhattan is going to be out of this world. It may not be like China or Dubai in terms of raw height but the scope will be breathtaking.BxAq66u.jpg

Really? The 'st' is slender in that position in Scots? In Irish anything next to an 'o','a', or 'u' is broad (unpalatalized), while anything next to 'i' or 'e' is slender (palatalized). So the 'st', being between two 'o's (the first of which is there ONLY to indicate nonpalatalization) is broad. Is this done differently in Scots?

It's harder to believe that the long 'ó' is pronounced "ih," but if you say so I'll believe you.

well then it's improperly named, it's misleading and it's false advertising....

You should write a strongly-worded letter to the 19th-Century Bavarians who founded it then. Though to be fair it does END in October.

Thank you. It was a very moving experience. Thanks for being there.

But close enough to be funny. :)

Yeah, long as you remember that, we're good. :)

Damn my thumb got in the left bottom of this pic, but one coming up to the World Trade Center 1
