So im wondering if any of you guys have any experience with using the juicer diet. I just watched this movie called fat sick and nearly dying (its pretty inspiring). And it got me thinking about trying to detox, eating right and actually working out and trying to get my body right? what i'm asking is, does anyone have any advice on this? i'm trying to do this for weight loss and better health.

I saw that movie too and liked it--especially the second half with the trucker. The one question it left me with is why juicing over blending? You can make what are called whole vegetable and fruit juices by blending them with water and you leave in everything, whereas juicers filter the fiber. I've been thinking about buying a Blendtec for that purpose. Right now I have a fruit and veggie smoothie about once a week for dinner that I make with a cuisine art. They're good, but not smooth like a Blendtec could make them. The other part that would be the most challenging to me is buying fresh vegetables and keeping the right amount on hand. You risk not buying enough and making another trip or it starting to go bad--but I suppose you'd get into a rhythm.

My only tips are that I really enjoy the Wyman's wild frozen blueberries I get from Costco along with Raider Farms mixed frozen berries I get there. They add sweetness to the smoothies. I feel like frozen vegetables don't taste as fresh and healthy as frozen berries. Also, when making smoothies or juices, don't be afraid to use a lot of veggies--fresh spinach you can hardly taste, cucumber is neutral tasting, and I even use broccoli, tomato, and carrot which will give you more flavor--garden fresh taste :) Banana as a treat adds nice emulsion and creaminess (but more sugar)

Have fun!

yea im thinking about going for the ten day str8 tn hing, time is issue with me so i really want to everything i need and make a few glasses to last me two days at a time. i want to lose that initial few pounds to get me going/motivated while working out also. i have been looking at these workout threads... after watching that movie it just really motivated me to make a change. i wish more people could watch it. im thinking about juicing with my protein supliments and taking a fiber supliment also so i can stay healthy for the short time i will be fasting

it just blew my mind how much better and how much of the weight he lost in that first week

Just make sure you get enough calories per day, meaning you'll probably need to drink a lot of juice! I think the reason you see so much weight loss in that movie is that dramatic reduction in calorie intake, but you don't want to get sick from not eating/drinking enough. If you're only drinking juice, I don't know how necessary a fiber supplement is as I would assume there's nothing that's going to really get stuck in the GI tract. The protein supplement could be a good idea though.

I think juicing could be a good idea to do it to sort of wake yourself up--when you go back to eating food it would really sort of make you think about what you eat. But I'm not sure if I would go 10 days myself. But it's definitely up to you. Maybe try it for a day? Or just one meal first?

Maybe some others will chime in because I really have no experience outside of seeing the movie as well (about 6 months ago--so it's not as fresh in my mind as it is yours) and my once a week smoothie.

yea i'm def going to see how long i can do it. im just wondering if there are any other people that have tried this. if not, i will deff be posting some progress notes

Ok I will tell you this.. when you go on a all veggie/fruit or plain detox diet the first few days you might feel not so great. I had headaches for the first two days but then after that I felt awesome and had a ton more energy. Depending on your diet now you might want to ease into it a bit over a few days at least (hopefully more). Make sure you get plenty of leafy greens in your smoothies also, it helps to alkalize and gives pretty good protein depending on the type. I do gotta say many juices you will have to get used to, I know i did, hated celery and now I can down two glasses of the stuff and love it. :)

damn, that sounds pretty good, so what kind of results health wise did you get from doing this? did you skin/hair/eyes get softer/smoother/more clear? how about your weight? and how long did you juice for?

years later update! but i did it, lose a crap ton of weight, got my life together, was really fit, went to japan (was stationed there for a few years, met someone i thought i would spend the rest of my life with, didn't work out. broke up after 3yrs, came back to the states put on a lot of weight and been feeling pretty shitty about myself lately but decided to log back into this website after years of being inactive and low key found the motivation i needed from my own old posts so there's that
