Hey, Congratulations! That's quite a load off your mind. It can be so hard to get those words out.

I like that part where you say that your parents are now invited to your last 3 years of thoughts. That's a long time to have a wall between you and them.

Coming out is less about letting people know, and more about affirming yourself. So even if you knew it wouldn't be a problem, it's still important. You feel free-er? Great! High five! :)
 
Congrats idefix...way to go! You're an inspiration mate...I'm really glad that your courage paid off for you and that your parents showed their real love and understanding for you....

I can image the look on their faces if you shared all of the last 3 years thoughts with them....
 
Congrats idefix!! It took me awhile to come out to my parents, but when I did I felt a lot better...whether they mention it or not, the ball is in their court now!!

And, I love being myself around my friends...I still have a couple guy friends to tell (even though they know) but it will all come in due time.

It is encouraging to hear guys coming out at an early age.
I lived a lie for 40 years and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.

Of course gay life 40 years ago is nothing like today

Congratulation and thank you for sharing this with us. There are many here to whom this will give encoragement. It's good see people putting their relief and their parents reaction into words. The greatest fear in coming out is of dissaproval and in your and my experiences positive supportive reactions were recieved instead.

It definitely takes a man to do it. Thinking about my coming out....it was a bit dramatic, but I never regreted it! Welcome to a new, exiting and honest part of your life!!! ..|
