well the title says it all, i just (no less than an hour ago) came out to my best friend. i'm just so excited and somewhat nervous that i'm still shaking. he took it really well, i dont know how he took it so well. i couldn't actually say "i'm gay" to him so i had to text it to him and 45 seconds later he just says "you wanna go skate?" i dont know what i'm getting at here i'm just really happy that i still have my best friend and according to him nothings changed. ok thanks for letting me get that off my chest. :)

lol sorry it's a big step for me, sure it's not as exciting for most of you guys just wanted to tell someone

Awesome! I still remember telling my best friend the same. After you come out fully, you end up thinking, "why did I torture myself over this for so long"? When coming out in totality I always say, it'll never be as good as you wish, nor will it ever be as bad as you fear, but rather somewhere in between.

I still remember the first person I came out to, and that was..a long time ago. Fear, trepidation, then a freeing sense of joy when an unbelievable weight was lifted off of me. The first one is always the hardest.

Congrats on taking the first step to taking control of your life.

You should be very excited! As someone who just started coming out (for me, it's a process) last month, I am very happy and proud of you! It's always good to know there are others who are going through the same thing.

Everyone on this site is here to support you! PM if you need anything.

I agree. It's very exciting to know that the person you called friend is, in fact, just that. Good for you and good for him. There is nothing better than a friend.

Haha, that sounds like a great reaction to your coming out. Congrats!

Hopefully my reactions will be just as nonchalant and positive as your best friends.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, i'll be sure to keep working towards fully coming out.

Good for you, coming out to straight guy friends is the hardest. When I was still attending college, I had a really close straight guy friend, and we just never spoke of my sexuality. I finally told him, and it was great. He is one of my closest friends. He is my son, and daughter's godfather, my husband's workout buddy, and spends one night a week with our family.
I hope things work out so well for you and your friend. I hope you also keep us updated on the situation, because I would love to know how things go.

Congrats! Coming out is definitely the most relieving thing you can ever do, and the feeling of knowing you still have someone that means so to you is great! I hope everyone in your life is just as accepting :)

I'm very happy for you sportsguy. That took courage and now you know that he really is your best friend. What a great guy and what an awesome reaction.

Good luck and I hope your coming out process continues in this great direction.

As our vice president would say, what you did is a big f'ing deal! Well done. ..| Pat yourself on the back.

Congrats! It definitely is a big step. I'm glad you can breathe a bit easily now especially since your friend doesn't think anything's changed :)
