Somebody post this in another thread. That is part of the Naval Base Coronado. There is a bunch conspiracy theory on the net about it. Wikipedia says it predates WWII.

Reminds me of a picture I once saw in a newspaper of a 60 x 60 meter swastika made up of larch trees in a German forest near Berlin. In the 1930's some of the locals planted the trees but the fact that they looked like a swastika wasn't discovered until after the German reunification in the 90's when planes were allowed to fly over the area.

Sadly she's met her end...

In post #1592 on page 64 I posted a few pics of this boat which ran aground on a sand bank outside the East London harbour, SA.

All the containers on deck were removed still leaving some within, but she'll never float again.

Taken from todays newspaper...
"The 17000-ton stricken Safmarine Agulhas is poised to add her name soon to the long list of hapless vessels which have come to grief along the deceptively dangerous Eastern Cape coastline.

A lot of rough water has passed under the bridge of the doomed ship into her ruptured holds and engine-room since the elements forced her onto the western breakwater of the East London harbour on June 26.

Exactly 34 days later, the 184m-long German-owned and Liberian-registered container ship remains firmly lodged on its precarious perch.

Expert opinion from master mariners and marine engineers linked to the South African Maritime Safety Association (Samsa) and salvors Smit Salvage, is that the hapless Agulhas will never float again.

Yesterday, the South African representative of the Norwegian company underwriting the ship’s P&I (protection and indemnity) said in the case of “total wreck removal”, specialist salvors – also from Europe – were likely to tender for the job. The vessel’s hull was insured with a German company."

My thanks also NICK346.

Especially as that is the very first time that I have seen the opera house from a different angle. It is always the typical sideways view so interesting to see what it looks like end on.

You're right! It was refreshing to get a new view!

I have no idea what this pice of art is called but I had great fun just looking at it. Made out of styrofoam the soldiers surrounding the giant are about 1.80 m. The giant itself filled the shed.
