The mansion is the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. He founded the Eastman Kodak Co. His home is a must see photography museum. In January of this year the museum invited photographer Robert Weingarten from Malibu, California to display his Malibu sunrise photos. Rather than an exhibit inside the museum the director chose to display Mr. Weingarten's photos on the lawn to brighten up a city known for its gray winter days and record snow accumulations.

Now that the trees have started to lose their leaves I sometimes catch myself just standing in the hall, looking through the glass in the front door, looking out past the Museum of Modern Arts, looking over the Rhine at the largest nature reserve within city limits in Europe.

The Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal.
The first time I was there it was the only sight I saw. Very much in love all we did was walk up and down the streets in the gay village. Holding hands. No visit to the Olympic Stadium or the Jardins Botanique or the American Pavillion on the other island.
Somehow we always ended up sitting at a picnic table underneath the bridge sharing a cigarette. This is where I burst into tears when I heard him say I love you.
When I was there again this summer I just had to cross the bridge. I was scared, but then I scare easily. Every time a truck would drive past and the bridge would start to shake I held on.
Still managed to get a few pics that I'd like to dedicate to him.

A canon at The Castle of Good Hope. Built between 1666 and 1679 it is the oldest surviving building in South Africa.

wit - that looks like it is going to be fired at the streets below. great pic.

:D

Actually there is a canon (the Noon-day gun) on Signal Hill in the background of the pic which is fired at noon everyday. If you are a visitor to the city, the bang created by this tradition can be startling. If the wind direction is perfect it can be heard across the bay at Blouberg beach.

If that were the view out my office window--- I'm afraid my productivity would be seriously diminished!!

And thanks for the bridge photos and the accompanying prose!
