I haven't posted anything in a while, so here goes. I've been working on a personal project. It requires approximately 1,800 photographs of surfers in and out of the water. Right now, these are my favourites from the photos I've taken. They are all hosted on my account at www.flickr.com. The first is a local surfer, then a visiting surfer from South Africa, a female friend who is an amazing surfer and a 19 year old local surfer.

Thanks for the pictures! Wouldn't it have been great to have run into some of the UK JUBers while you were there!

Cape Dutch architecture is an architectural style found in the Western Cape of South Africa. The style was prominent in the early days of the Cape Colony, and the name derives from the fact that the initial settlers of the Cape were primarily Dutch.

Houses in this style have a distinctive and recognisable design, with a prominent feature being the grand, ornately rounded gables, reminiscent of the townhouses of Amsterdam. The houses are also usually H-shaped, with the front section of the house usually being flanked by two wings running perpendicular to it. Furthermore, walls are whitewashed, and the roofs are thatched.

Most Cape Dutch buildings in Cape Town have been lost to new developments — particularly to high-rises in the City Bowl. However, the Cape Dutch tradition can still be seen in many of the farmhouses of the Wine Route, and historical towns such as Stellenbosch and Swellendam.
