Just got my exam results and it's depressing

You might want to get tested for ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). You might also want to study in a library or somewhere else where the distractions won't be there. You should also be paying attention during class and changing your study strategies because they aren't working for you presently.
 
Time management!!!!

If these distractions/temptations occur it's because you aren't addressing those needs.

You know why you are going to school, and those reasons/desires should be enough to propel you through the course work. But also, you are human and require more than the basics of study, eat, sleep.

So, schedule your time. Make plans to study in this block of time, socialize in this one, masturbate in this one and face book in that one. There is enough time in the day.

Once you have those distractions allotted, the tension to pursue them during study time should melt away. Have confidence in the knowledge that all of your needs can be met.

For a second, I thought U meant something else. Anyways, pretty much what the poster above said. Make time. Like my mom tells me, Theirs always time for bullshit, but only so much time for important shit.

You need to set yourself up for success. Go to a place where it's silent and don't bring anything that can distract you - such as a cell phone, laptop, or iPod. Avoid places like coffee shops or busier study spots - I always use the fourth floor of our library, or a dock over a local lake.

Make a commitment when you arrive there to stay for a period of time - like an hour or two hours - or a certain number of chapters in a textbook or powerpoint.

It just takes self-discipline and commitment. I know they're rough, but kicking your ass at the end of every semester should be a strong reminder as you go on.

I never know how to study during HS because I breezed through everything without needing to. Once I failed 3 classes in college, I had to learn how to do this. It is rough, and I spent many a night procrastinating and getting easily distracted, but you have to believe in yourself first.

Also, keep your syllabi with you every day. :)
 
I recently took a class last semester and I had some bad study habits, but because I was paying my own way for the class, I got more motivated and decided to some of my papers earlier and it was very helpful. I got an A- and while I was pissed that I didn't get an A, it was my fault for that because I didn't go to a few classes, even though they were free absences (and I wouldn't get points deducted for not being there) there must have been some pop quizzes on the days that I wasn't there and that ended up being the difference between an A and an A- because I didn't have enough of a cushion in my grade to guarantee an A.
 
You are on the right track - and the previous posters have some great ideas.

I am taking masters classes online right now and carving out time was a challenge for me too. I have a lot going on and last semester had to declare to myself and everyone that Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons were "school time" and I would be unavailable.

If distractions like porn and jerking off are a problem too - you'll need to move your study space. For me, I like to move everything out to the outside porch. There have been times that I get to distracted at home and move my whole study operation to a library or public park.

Retake the modules.

Buckle down this time and create some discipline in your life.
 
If you're having some trouble getting past the modules, I recommend looking to get a private tutor to assist you. It could do wonders to help you target those modules and topics which you struggle with.
