I'm not normally a thread starter - more of a thread killer - but I just wanted to share with JUB that I have started the road of coming out. (!)

18 of my closest friends now know - not bad for a first day. :D

All were as great as I thought they would be with lots of of positive and assuring comments. Its going to take a while to sink in and I'm going to leave family out of it for a bit longer yet (need to just get used to this first) - but at least I have made a start - finally. ..|

Thanks JUB for helping me gain the confidence to do this - I joined 6 months ago and now I am out - who knows where I will be in the next 6 months. Now I've stopped feeling sick I am looking forward to being with my nearest friends without any hidden secrets.

Congratulations! I admire you for coming out so quickly. In two years I only came out to 6 people! Just tell me, how did you do it? Did you tell them all at once or did you go just one by one?
 
Thanks for the kind words. It sounds a bit cowardly now but I actually did most of it by text. My friend group is quite close knit and so it would be difficult not to tell all at the same time and it was the only way I had the balls to do it all at once - I'd like to share some of the responses if I may ;-

Hope you don't mind me sharing all this - and I'm not just trying to show off how many friends I've got (although they are the greatest and I love them all) but I wanted to show others that if you do really have close friends - the kind of response you can expect.

It is very warming and I hope this does give others the courage to start making some steps of their own.

But I just wanted to say in this post that I have respected you from the first pm we shared.

You are a great guy, I know you've been kicking announcment around in your head for a while.... But man, you did it.... I know you have many personal friends, and look at how they responded.... ^ You are a good friend to so many people man.... one of those guys that everyone considers a good buddy and a close friend..... someone that everyone respects and is loved by one and all....

I've always known you as a guy that writes such funny stuff, but as a sincere and honest guy too. You are one of the most handsome guys I've ever seen on jub.... but how you look doesn't matter a bit man.... you are the genuine article.... someone that is trusting, and trustworthy. A guy that trust his friends because he knows that he has earned their love and acceptance. You are an exeptional man my friend.

Hey, well done. You've taken an important step, but more important than coming out must be the realisation of how many great mates you have. They will support you as you begin your journey. Make sure you tell them thanks, and be there for them when they need you.
 
With a support network like that, P, your path should be fairly smooth. Nobody has that many great friends unless that person IS a good friend - so feel doubly special now. :)
