Apple just released the long awaited 10.4.9 update for Mac OS X "Tiger". The update is up to 170MB, depending if you have a PowerPC or Intel machine.

The update brings bugfixes and stability inhancements. More informations here and on the Apple Site

10.4.9 will be the last major update for OS X "Tiger".

Get the update via the Software Updater.

Sweet, I kept hearing about beta builds sent out and I was wondering when they were going to finally release this. I'm looking forward to the improvements in Rosetta, hopefully Photoshop CS will run faster.

Awesome! Siginifies Leopard is nearing its release! :) The last version of 10.4!

What?! I thought Macs were perfect, and never needed to be updated, and never had any bugs?? How can this be?!

Believe it or not macs always get updates

and guess what some of the updates even are to fix security issues i know shocking isn't it

When the hell is Leopard being released?????? I'm holding out on buying a MacBook Pro until it's released....

That's the big question... some say This Month, other say August. And Apple... well Apple isn't saying anything ;)

I am also holding out on buying a new macbook, until they incorporate Flash memory. As it's believed they'll be faster with a quicker boot time, and they'll be more energy efficient and lighter.

The PPC update is only 72mb! Intel update: 160mb!

The 10.4.9 Update is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger version 10.4.8 and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:
- RAW camera support
- Handling of large or malformed images that could cause crashes
- Image capture performance
- Mouse scrolling and keyboard shortcuts
- Font handling
- Playback quality, and bookmarks in DVD Player
- USB video conferencing cameras for use with iChat
- Bluetooth devices
- Browsing AFP servers
- Apple USB Modem
- Windows-created digital certificates
- Open and Print dialogs in applications that use Rosetta on Intel-based Macs
- Time zone and daylight saving for 2006 and 2007
- Security updates

I'm waiting too. I'm definitely waiting for Leopard, but I'm not sure if I can hold out for flash memory. I'm still a desktop guy, but really want to be doing this in bed before too long.

Leopard looks like it's going to be an amazing leap forward, can't wait.

i'm sure things have slowed down.

Not true. :) I am using it for days now and my Mac performs beautifully. I can highly recommend it. Especially if you experienced problems with .mac syncing

I upgraded 2 days ago. No issues. As always be sure to run disk utility and repair disk permissions before and after the update.

I am still waiting for 3D TV before upgrading to colour:p

I'm a pc guy - ya I know...

Thinking of going mac when my pc dies. The question is what will be new on leapard?

We all need to wait just a bit longer. On the Apple Site they have posted 10 new things. Jobs talked about some "ultra-secret things" not shown. People talk about a new finder, new UI called "illuminous" to replace "Aqua" and so on. Stay tuned ;)

Thanks guys! Even has a "time machine". Is the flux capacitor updated?

I think I will get one when my current pc dies.

LEOPARDDDDD... Apple has been really silent... They love doing that. In a couple of months there would be a lot of great surprises I suppose! New Machines I think and Of course, Leopard! Excited!!!!
