HuntNeo was the second incarnation of that name (it had a TM at the end), so I'm assuming if he comes back, it'll be something like "Neo-HuntNeo". JB just might be "Besseler" or whatever his last name (real or fake) was.

Fuck the DMV. I should have just took a personal day. All I need is a license renewal. It feels like I'm stuck in pergatory.

^ Sorry to say this, but it's satisfying to read about an employee screwing over a company instead of the other way round.

It's really that bad?

Since last week's "worst annual inventory in the history of the supermarket division of the company", the promised multiple-times-a-week store visits by upper, above-store-level management have indeed happened. We're routinely made to literally pull rabbits out of hats with the workloads we have to deal with vs the manpower and people we actually have (not nearly enough) to get the work done. So management freaks out, plus our assistant managers are changing out - one on the night shift is going to days permanently, we're losing one because she's moving to Connecticut (thank goodness, as I never trusted her, especially with money/front checkouts matters), one is transferring to another store in the Dallas area, so we're losing her. We have one that's supposed to be coming back from medical leave - he's missed out on all this drama we've been having. Before he went on medical leave, he was the night assistant that played fast and loose with employees' work schedules, reassigning people to come in on his nights, so that he'll have manpower coverage to get his work done, but to even out the hours (this is a budget after all - if you add to Side B, you have to take away from Side A to even things out), he'll cut people and give nights off to people who work on the other night assistant's shift - to where that other night assistant is basically left with a skeleton crew of, sometimes 3 people for the whole damn store. And of course, the expectation is that all the work will still magically get done, and by 7am, the store will still be immaculate - whether you have a crew of 15 people or just 3.

Believe me when I tell you that I can't get out of retail fast enough. I've just seen too much in this business. I'm fighting like hell to push myself through college (with a sometimes 20-hr/day schedule), to try and move on, so that I can quit this job. Even if it kills me, which, I'm also worried that it might actually do that - I've been exhausted, and my heart hasn't felt nearly right lately.

I've seen both ends of this. Unless the employee is "full-aged" aka near retirement, he has pretty much screwed himself over for employment.

My old job had an "unlimited sick/personal day" clause that nobody abused. We were still contractually obligated to work X amount of hours per month if we did not want a reducted paycheck and dealing with HR in a non-management position is like being sequestered by the police.

Anyway, only 2.5 hours at the DMV just to renew my license. I talked with a High School English teacher over the jaded Romeo and Juliet. I basically told her today's teens are dumber than ever and part of the problem is that she is beholden to strict "educational standards". Reckon the teacher didn't even know that R&J was based on the Roman tragedy 'Pyramus and Thisbe' so that says a lot of about the quality of teachers that are being turned out of the paper mill.

A friend told me about a local band that he thought I should really check out.
I went to their Facebook page.
I clicked on "Listen".
Five songs came up.
I clicked the first one to listen to it.
Pop-up window - "This requires a 'LIKE'."
In short, I have to like the band BEFORE I listen to it.
I say fuck it, and "like" the band.
I then click the first song again.
Pop-up window - "This requires you to sign up for the band's mailing list."

I now hate this band, and I still haven't heard any of their music.

But is that really the band's fault, or facebook's?

The band's. You have to deliberately select to have your music only accessible to those who "like" your band or sign up for your mailing list. Perhaps they didn't realize this, or they did this by accident, but then it's their fault for not checking their settings. (The music has been up for months.)

god, this guy is such a scumbag... makes me want to cut labor law regulations.

he used up all his vacation time; after he came back, he used up all his sick days... and now, he's taking 6 weeks of paid leave via the Family Medical Leave Act.

everyone knows full well that he's going to quit as soon as his leave is up, but meanwhile, we're fucked as he's out of work for almost 3 months because we can't hire a replacement as long as he's on the payroll.

I thought you could at least hire someone on a temp basis, and you only need to hold the job for him.

Can you not do a mail-in renewal?

In Maryland you can renew by mail every other renewal. Next year I'll have to go to the DMV, but the next one I can renew by mail again.

And I think the cost is the same by mail or in person, I can't remember

I'm tired of not being able to just say what's on my mind, make a simple post or describe a situation without being labeled a dramaqueen. I am so frustrated right now, I feel like I could bat my head against a wall or yell at it or just disappear and it would help tons more than this. It seems like whenever I deal with online people I get hurt the most, I need to learn to stop subjecting myself to this type of treatment.

In the hospital now for mild to moderate chest pain. I just hope they don't say the s word - surgery. That would suck, right now. Actually kinda scared, at the moment.
