Justice At Last, Bill Cosby Found Guilty.

If the accusers push other States to investigate Cosby's alleged crimes that occurred in places like California or New York, he may find himself in the same situation as Weinstein, caught in multiple indictments, with multiple court cases in multiple venues.

The Cosby Show... continues.

I am sure this is far from over - now everyone will seek private civil cases against him to strip him of all his money - it's the American way - if you can't get a guilty conviction in a court of law then you file lawsuits where there is no "reasonable doubt" clause and the statue of limitations is longer or nonexistent

The reason Cosby is free is because of a 2005 civil suit that was filed instead of a criminal action.

Cosby was found guilty of criminal charges in 2018 and served 3 years of his 10 year sentence.

The reason he was released was because in 2005, the previous DA agreed to not pursue criminal charges in exchange for Cosby's testimony in civil suits. That civil suit filed against Mr. Cosby was settled in 2006 for $3.38 million

Interesting. Brings to question the taps on the wrist white boys get for the same crimes.

Ah yes. Those white boys with 58 accusers.

You're right, how could i be so blind, that's why women from all over the world come to America because they're safe here and our justice system enthusiastically and aggressively prosecutes sex crimes, not just when it's a powerful black man who wants to buy NBC.

Out of those 58 women, how many of their stories actually held up without any alterations (of any sort)?

The interesting thing is that most of the women didn't know each other yet their stories were strangely alike. Many of them were under 18 at the time it happened.

‘I took a sip and blacked out. When I awakened, I was naked in the bed beside him. I had no idea how my clothes came off or how and why I was in his bed.’

‘Mr. Cosby greeted me and handed me a cappuccino, telling me that he had made me my favorite coffee. After I drank it, I felt dizzy and lost consciousness.’

:rotflmao: I don't know why but his last name cracks me the fuck up. I dunno maybe it's the weed. He sounds like a supervillain, like a military guy who experiments on mutants.

It almost sounds like you're trying to excuse his actions on the basis that he's black.

No it doesn't. Nice try though.

Cosby can be a monster AND targeted cuz he's black (and tried to buy a network run by racists). Truth isn't either/or no matter how hard people try to push an elementary narrative of 'this or that.' Reality is in the gray.

Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Except that he got away with it. He served 3 years in prison on an overturned conviction for one count criminal of sexual assault.

He's currently a free man and he still claims he's innocent.

Green always supercedes black or white in the US.

So did Thomas Jefferson, except Cosby's face isn't on any currency.

If only somebody had warned you that slave-owning genocidal maniacs didn't exactly build the most reliable judicial system. If only somebody had been ringing that alarm since like the 1940s.

America needs to pick a side, when the courts over prosecute black men you cheer, when they're under prosecuted you throw a tantrum. Which is it?

I think I know where you're going with this. I'd discourage trying to use 21st century values to understand 18th century relationships. Historians struggle with understanding some of these things in context which means that those of us who know less of the history are unlikely to to be able to pass judgments.

When I first came to JUB, we used to get a lot of threads about gay JUB members who were attracted to their straight buddies. Inevitably, someone would advise them "get him drunk".

We're getting fewer of those responses these days because more people are aware that using alcohol and drugs to lower another person's inhibitions isn't playing on a level playing field.

That's what is confounding about Cosby. He didn't just give these women a drink to "loosen them up". He drugged them without their knowledge with the single motive of taking sexual advantage of them.

Most of us are looking at guys like Epstein, Trump and Cosby and asking, "Why are there so many people coming forward with these accusations?", "Why do these guys get away with it for so long?" And, "If 58 people (of 13 in Trump's case) came forward with similar stories about non-consensual sexual predation, how many others are there that we don't know about?".

The answer to why these guys got away with it is "money" and "power"... and the fear of the victims of going up against someone with power and money on their side.
