Justice! [Harvey Weinstein]

So every guy with Fournier's has license to be a serial abuser?

The Crown Prosecution Service has decided in respect of two charges of indecent assault against Weinstein in the UK that the case should be discontinued. This is because "there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction".

However, Mr. Weinstein is still being held in New York City's Rikers Island jail while he awaits a retrial later this year.

Weinstein was also sentenced to 16 years in prison in a separate rape trial in California, which he is appealing against.

It's not over till it's over.

Justice delayed is justice denied. I imagine that with a convicted criminal already in prison, the Return on Investment is relatively low in bringing and prosecuting more charges.

A yt male getting away with crimes against humanity? Thank God this is an isolated incident in a culture that is otherwise 100% competent at policing itself.

Like Crosby, he can probably keep using his fortune to chip away at his convictions until he is on life support.

Weinstein is in hospital for emergency heart surgery.

Trigger Warning (sexual violence): Thank Jeebus our socio-economic system rewards good people so that medical resources can be directed towards those who most deserve them, such as Mr Weinstein who I'm sure is receiving the best possbile healthcare imaginable. After, ya know, years of terrorizing and r/a/ping everything with a pulse. /endsarcasm

Today isn't one of my mature "He's a human too and deserves fair blah blah blah" days.

Harvey Weintein suffered from an acute genital infection known as Fournier's gangrene.

Look it up and then have a think about what that might do to a man's sense of self-esteem and what it might encourage him to do to regain some sense of it in the face of ridicule and humiliation.

Whilst his deformity was used to help identify him in the trial, few people considered it might have been a factor in his actions, or possibly in the responses by the complainants in retrospect imagining him as a monster.

Later in the trial, photos of Weinstein were shown to the jury rather than on large screen so as not to 'humiliate' the defendant, but I would suggest Mr. Weinstein had been subjected to much humiliation before then. Monsters are usually created, not born.
I've seen every variation of "poor white guy who did something terrible, he's the ACTUAL victim" from Brock Turner (what about his swim career??!) to the Vegas country music festival shooter and school shooters (tortured lone wolf trope) so as wild as it is to see someone rationalize serial sexual predation with small winky syndrome, it's also so normal to see these kid gloves used on the top of the socio-political totem pole that it's amber, almost boring, not even as shocking or controversial as it would be in an actually civil society where no demographic is beyond reproach.

Somebody call me when you-know-who are as passionate and enthusiastic about self-correction and in-house social issues as they are about lecturing.... urban communities.

Where did I say that?
Maybe somewhere in that sympathy piece you wrote for a man so sinister it took all the A-list women in Hollywood coming together like The Avengers to stop him and make him pay for at least some of his decades of sex crimes-- for which he is completely in denial and unapologetic. I guess once shouldn't feel guilt when their behavior is everyone else's fault.

Funny how those A-list allegations of crime are being overturned one-by-one by the justice system as fiction, like the characters of the Avengers.

In the most recent, the judge only obtained a conviction by allowing testimony unrelated to the case.

#metoo - aka "jumping on the bandwagon and overturning it".

Let's not pretend yt men are efficient or even competent at policing each other or prosecuting sex crimes with their > 1% conviction rate, meaning MAYBE one of every thousand rapists will do jail time. R Kelly was legally innocent for 20 years after the entire country watched him urinate on a minor. Russell Simmons spent years raping minors including his ex wife who bore his children, offspring-- actual living breathing evidence of his crimes, then he calmly sold all his businesses and got a one-way ticket to a non-extradition nation,, now he does pilates on social media and comments about current events while casually pretending we don't all know he's a pedophile. More shining examples of your virtuous courts and the stellar discernment of your judges or a(nother) reminder that men can't really govern themselves? Epstein's clients are legally innocent. Sandusky molested countless boys and died a sports hero. Americans have spent more energy and resources punishing black men for rapes they didn't commit, hence the existence of serial predators like Deshaun Watson. We're STILL releasing wrongly incarcerated men from the 70s and 80s which WOULD mean more space for predators but in all actuality these are barely even considered crimes.

We know Harvey raped these women. Which exact ones and how and when and the gross details the voyeurs are starved for are of no interest to me. I care about this weird thing called public safety and I have this nervous tick where I get uncomfortable when predators are roaming wild and free. Maybe that's why I don't fit into western culture cuz sex crimes aren't a dealbreaker. It's getting to the point where accusations are almost a badge of honor. A battle scar for warriors and victims of oppression: men. How long til locker room talk is "I got more accusers than you, dawg" braggadocio? Will Sam's Club be selling "congrats on your first allegation" cakes?

I'm gonna back out of this topic cuz it's sensitive and I mostly feel like the loudest apathy comes from A) other victims processing their own trauma in clumsy and disorganized ways and B) predators getting off on other predators getting off, the gloat is probably better than the *resists urge to vomit* for lack of more eloquent phrasing, "attack completion/orgasm."

Anyway, flexing legal victories for *known rapists is very bizarre, if not predictable from the demographic responsibe for online child trafficking and underage sex tourism in African and Asian countries. What sane person would anticipate disgust from the same culture that spent the entire 20th century putting meaningless rape scenes in mainstream movies for reasons so obvious they don't need to be stated. Wasn't that long ago JUB itself was horny and boned up over the arrest of a cop who had sex with a minor. The prevailing reaction was digital high-fives and "LOLZ, wutever, Mr Altruistic." Guess I'm the only one who doesn't like the temperature in the room? I'll excuse myself.

But, um, ???congratulations to Mr Weinstein on the victory??? (here comes that vomit)

*KNOWN, like, not even debatable

Go ahead.

Be an apologist for the guy.

I don't understand why you are hauling water for him, but usually it is because someone is looking for expiation or rationalization for something else.

Noted from the article.
Once Weinstein's legal cases are complete in New York, he is expected to return to California to serve a 16-year sentence for a rape conviction, against which he is also appealing.

More than 100 people have made sexual misconduct and rape allegations against Weinstein dating back to the 1970s.

One would think that at this point he would welcome more charges on a separate indictment because they delay his return to California to serve whatever is left of a 16 year sentence for his rape conviction.

Again. Hardly matters at this point.

His Califonia conviction will keep him in jail until he chokes out his last breath.
