Young Hollywood is stepping into the superhero hall of justice to vie for parts in the comic book movie "Justice League of America."

Director George Miller flew in Saturday from his native Australia for a marathon casting session that started Sunday and continues Monday, seeing 35-40 actors test for roles in the big-budget Warner Bros. project.

Parts up for grabs include Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter.

On the roll call are Adam Brody (Fox's "The O.C."), Joseph Cross ("Running With Scissors"), D.J. Cotrona ("Windfall"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Grindhouse"), Michael Angarano ("Sky High"), Teresa Palmer ("Wolf Creek"), Max Thieriot ("Jumper") and chart-topping rapper Common.

The cast of NBC's "Friday Night Lights" is well-represented as well, with Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter also among those testing for parts. No costumes are involved in the tests, which are being taped as actors read script pages.

If the names feel young, it's because Miller is looking for actors to grow into their roles over the course of several movies. Sources say the man behind the "Mad Max" and "Babe" franchises is testing not only for the roles themselves but how the actors interact with one another while keeping an eye on the look of the whole group. The director is due to present his findings to the studio midweek.

George Miller’s upcoming Justice League of America live-action movie.

Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know anything about the characters or plot of the film

The film will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, a John Stewart version of Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter. Where did Aquaman go? I thought he was the sole reason for all the motion capture 3D animation talk a while back? And he’s certainly a better character than Martian Manhunter. The Flash will supposedly have a crush on Wonder Woman (ugh), but who wouldn’t. He is also the youngest member of the super-group. Wonder Woman acts as defacto humanitarian (ala Angelina Jolie) for the group. Batman has a device called “Redeye” which allows him to spy on other league members so that if a JLA that goes rogue or becomes a villain. But the main villain in the film (unnamed at this point) gains control of the Redeye device, and uses it against the JLA and the human race. And at some point Batman goes bad, whatever that means. So far I’m really not digging this plot, but I do like that the film is not being used as a group origin/team-up story.

This was actually a popular story in the comics. It actually happened twice where batman created a system to watch the heroes. Pick up the "Tower of Bable" trade to read the story. Than most recently he created Brother eye which created the Omacs. That is the story where Wonder Woman has no choice but to kill Maxwell Lord who has control of Superman. She twists his head all the way around without saying a word. Two very good stories.

Story sounds alright but some of those actors look a liitle young what is going to be teen justice league .What happen to Ryan Reynolds being casted as the flash best choice to me

I was giddy like a school girl when I saw this movie was being made...but the more they get into it, it is going to suck!!! Why don't they wait til Christian Bale can get involved. This whole "younger" thing is going to ruin the film. My two cents.

They want to keep the budget as low as possible. For the price of a "Christian Bale" they can afford the whole "Justice League" and keep a few more bucks to themselves.

The age concept just doesn't make sense. It says the call is for actors 35-40 but most of those peoplpe don't look anywhere out of their teens.

Also I'm in Palicki's corner... she never got to make it past teh pilot of Supernatural she deserves a little something like a major movie franchise lol

This whole young actor thing better not fly... it is a shitty idea. I HATED most of the actors of the newest superman movie because they were so young... especial Lois... The only reason Brandon Routh got the part is because he was the spitting image of Christopher Reeve. He may be hotter than hell, but if he were a littler older it would have been better, but it couldn't be helped...

I was just looking on IMBD and it says
Adam Brody was cast as the flash
and Scott Porter who ever the hell he is going to be superman that movie is going to suck ass

They are taking this story from the JLA: Tower of Babel when Rhas Al Ghul steals Batman's contingency agaisnt the other JLA members, and well I wont reveal anymore.

This looks to be a good movie. I don't care if the cast is a young cast, they will make it work and the story is really good. Especially if it is a lot like the Tower of Babel.

The cast has to be a young cast in case they make more movies. No big name actors because the movie cost will go through the roof. The special effects are gonna be the star of this film. Could imagine what it would cost if they did get big named actors? I like the casting so far. Wonder Woman is gonna be the big draw for me. The actress looks like she fits the bill. And I can see that adam brody being the flash.
