Justin Timberlake just released his new album. To me it's absolute shit. But this track right here I love so much. That most of critics said sounds boring. Oh well, fuck them.

It's like a mix of R&B/Hip Hop, alternative rock, space rock, punk rock, country music, hillbilly, outer space, space island, underwater sounding all at once.

Being black and gay and feminine being hated by fucking everyone. This song is so lovely and depressing as fuck, and totally explains my life right now wanting to find love and romance.

Especially the bridge, I just love it so much. The whistling in the bridge too.

But this song in particular people are hating so much on. Saying it's awful. What do you guys think?

I edited this video with an old arthouse film. This what I imagine with this song, being that it's just a weird romantic song.

As long as you like it, don't worry about what others think.

Critics criticize far more than they praise anything anymore. When was the last time you read a review that was actually positive?

Saw an article from BBC online and was reminded of this thread.

What's behind the Justin Timberlake backlash?

The answer is that he has dared to make an album depicting the wrong culture. From what little I know it seems that his album content, and the promotional advertising for it, are strongly based on celebrating, or honouring, his Southern roots in Tennessee.

Apparently he should have known that he was supposed to disavow, disown, and condemn his entire heritage. Since he has not, the knives are out for him amongst the massed ranks of leftist-dominated popular culture.

Here's two key indicators to the whole mentality further down that article:

"He's spectacularly misjudged this comeback in a lot of different ways," says Laura Snapes, deputy music editor at The Guardian.

"It's a terrible mess of things to do with racial signifiers and gender signifiers.

"At this point in time, we're expecting pop stars to be spokespeople on a certain level, and he's definitely not living up to that."

"It was like a cologne advert," says Laura Snapes. "And it was a mistake for him to release that before there was any music, because it instantly made people think he was pivoting to whiteness.

"It seemed like a very convenient thing to go for in Trump's America - to abandon the signifiers of black music you've carried with you throughout your career.

"It was tasteless and ridiculous and plays on these outdated ideas of the strong man in the West."

This is what movie, music, TV, news, and celebrity-based 'popular' culture is increasingly becoming - a hyper-politicised arena where it is demanded that each and every person, especially the most prominent ones, must be involved in the 'correct' messaging and virtue-signalling on race, sexuality, gender, identity etc. or be vilified, slandered and hounded if they do not.

It's one of the things I am most sick of and disgusted by.

Or it could be that the songs are shit, which the two i've heard so far are.

^^ or it could just be that all the music is just banal derivative shit in search of a theme or even a glimmer of an idea. Maybe people don't just need another smooth dance mix with Justin channeling his inner Michael Jackson.

Maybe that is the reason.

Seems to make more sense.

You make my point for me, that his music was always and has always been very synthetic and artificial and lacking in any depth ever since his *NSync days as far as I can remember (with the possibility of a brief exception when he was involved with Timbaland as his producer or whatever it was) otherwise it was always thus.

So we're supposed to believe this new album is something exceptionally atrocious, even for him, and was away beyond the pale and of uniquely terrible quality?

Or is it not more likely the subject matter is the real issue here, like was said in those two quotes? And the pejorative assumptions and suspicions and judgments of him that come with it?

^ Nah. It is just that the music on this album is derivative, banal shit. All the rest is just excuses.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other...I don't care....

..why do you? If you like it...then like it....

Why do you hate the music you hate?

LMAO. Why even take the time to hate a song that will ultimately go no where?

I heard the first single. Wasn't interested. Kept it moving.

Ummmhhhh... Just to round my comment out, I guess I'll casually throw in the fact that I'm Black and gay and thus have no possible chance at happiness in the world at all. :bs:

most artists today shoot their wad and rarely make another great album---Justin was everyone's golden boy a few years back and now it's time to hate him---thats show biz----he is looking old:lol:

I just love smooth R&B and futuristic and space island sounding it is.

The rest of the album has very ugly trappy non smooth sounding songs.

This is the only good song.

I love it so much.

It makes me hate being single and alone even more. I pray that god sends me a man someday.

This song is so romantic as fuck and sad.

That bit there.

Maybe the ticket out of your cell is telling yourself that there is no cell.

I'm not convinced that the three reasons you list are your curse. For all the world, there have been multiple musicians like Prince and Michael Jackson and others that were believed to be gay and black and fem, yet they were adored by millions.

If you are hated by some for those, then they are not the world, so get out to the world.

As for dating, everyone is attracted to someone, but part of that is telling yourself that you are one of those someones. I myself have a negative self-image sexually, but I don't socially, and I find myself flirting and thinking positively about those about me all the time.

Be up on you. Others will join in.

I look at this blog sometimes for motivation. But I don't know if any of these fucking people are actors. So I took it off my signature

You using a an attractive white woman gif only proves my point you know.

I know in your head it does, in reality it's just the first image I found under "woman on computer animated gif," I didn't have the patience to scroll down for however long it would've taken to find a black woman on a computer, as 99% of my gifs are of black women. Nice try though.
