Kathy Griffin to do the Ellen show

Well it seems Ellen Degeneres heard that Kathy Griffin had been saying she was banned from doing the Ellen Show. (which she has been saying in her act)
Ellen watched Kathy's D list show and thought Kathy was "funny and Intelligent" so she decided to invite Kathy to do her show.
Ellen claims that Kathy was never banned, she just never considered Kathy for the show because she felt she was insulting and mean to many celebs.
(well Duh!)
Anyways, Ellen asked kathy to not be mean to anyone when she does the show, it seems Kathy has agreed. This goes against everything Kathy has said about being censured, she does not like that at all.
The show airs Tuesday Sept 11, do you think Kathy will behave??
It should be an interesting meet between these two ladies.
 
hmm...interesting....I think Kathy agreed to do it because she's a fan of Ellen and she always said that being "banned" or "not being asked to do" Ellen hurt the most out of all of them cause she really respects Ellen...so...I think it'll be good

Important to mention that Kathy is not a mean person, she is a sweetheart.
I think when she does the Ellen show, we will see the kind, compassionate Kathy we got to know on the D-List
 
From what I understand about the Ellen show from what i've seen is although she is openly gay, there's never any mention of that on her show. Maybe i'm wrong but i've only ever seen about 5 whole shows of hers? And because Kathy is so pro-gay and vocal about it maybe Ellen was worried she'll kind of alienate certain viewers of hers if Kathy is as outspoken as she normally is? I think I remember Kathy referring to Ellen and Portia as "power lesbians" at some stage too.

Well, you know that was true for a whole, but I have noticed that lately, Ellen has been more vocal about the gay thing.
She even made a joke with Hillary Clinton on the season opener this week.
Also, Ellen has go to love the fact that Kathy is so pro gay.
It should be fun ;)
 
i saw when ellen was talking about this. i'm not a fan of ellen's super happy humor. but i like her for the most part. kathy really isn't mean. her act is basically sarcasm and telling about encounters with celebrities. it's not her fault that celebrities act crazy. that's what i like about her act. it shows how these people that are worshipped and adored can really act like assholes. her gwyneth paltrow stuff is gold. ellen needs to relax

oh it's on at 9am in my area so I may catch it. I was thinking it was mid-afternoon because that would be drastic for me. Now, I can watch ellen, go to bestbuy to pick oblivion goty edition and install that on my lappy and play for a bit all before my 3:30 finance class. Isn't college great?

You are right, but I think the bitch part is only in her act. From what I see of her on the D-List show, she reallly is a pussycat in real life.
 
She has more bits than just trashing celebrities.

I hope to catch that show.
 
I don't think she is officially "banned" from most of the shows she claims to be.

She says she's banned from Leno but I don't think that's entirely true. Last time she was on, Kathy was showing pics of her with celebs and when one of her and Carmen Electra came up, Jay said something like "Wow, it looks like a before and after." Kathy took it pretty hard since she is pretty sensitive about her looks. Jay apologized and seemed genuinely upset that he hurt her feelings. I think her "ban" from the Tonight Show is a self imposed one rather than a request from Jay Leno to keep her off the show.

Anyway, I love Kathy and I'll watch her on Ellen.

OMG I had not heard about that, what a terrible thing for Jay to say.
I am sure he was genuinely sorry, prolly regreated saying it as the words left his lips. However, I can imagine Kathy, as you wrote, is very sensitive about her looks may not want to appear on jay's show again.
 
well I think that half of the reason of the "bannings" is that her act is just that its an ACT

not every single details of her celebrity stories are true

I think she'll behave because #1 its the 9/11 anniversary #2 her show isn't on so she really isn't promoting anything

#3 most if not ALL "guests" are prepped before they come out so there's some skeletal structure about what they're going to talk about and as long as she talks about what they've planned then it'll go smoothly.

Yeah I quess, :( prolly Ellen will sit down with Kathy before the show and say
"here is what we can/can't talk about".
 
Well she got through it.
I thought it went really well, Kathy seemed a little nervous but was very fun.
Ellen seemed enchanted with her, I think she really likes and respects Kathy.
As a matter of fact Ellen pretty much said so, referencing Kathy Iraq trip and the great tribute to her dad.
There were 3 times when Kathy got bleeped, or the sound was muffled out on a few words, but Ellen seemed ok with that. Ellen brought up the VMA's and let kathy run with it and she was very funny talking about Brittney and the whole show in general.
Ellen then held up pictures of celebs Kathy has dissed, an made her say "something kind" about each of them.
All in all it was a great show, Kathy was funny and smart and Ellen let Kathy be Kathy.
 
I just happened to catch the show today. I think Kathy was very funny as usual. It was a good interview and I'm happy Kathy and Ellen aren't having a 'feud.' They're both very funny, but in very different ways.

Now I'd like to see Rosie Odonnell on Ellen. haha that sounds kind of dirty.
 
just watched it on DVR....loved it....I thought Ellen was a little uncomfortable at points...like when she was bringing up how it hurt when people made fun of her when she came out....but I think Kathy recovered nicely and it was a great interview in a whole!

Yes, and I like how Kathy specified that she never made fun of Ellen when she came out.

I'm glad I caught the show, because I never usually watch it. :)

Gee that's an interesting point, I wonder why Rosie has not been on Ellen?
For that matter, I don't recall Ellen on the View either.

Pushyourluck mentioned that Ellen does not speak much about her coming out,
That seems to have changed this year. Twice this week she mentioned her girlfriend and their homelife together, it was nice to hear her doing that.
 
I thought it was a great interview. I adore Kathy and Ellen so...yeah it was great. Did anyone see her dj coming out?
