Who would have thought that Kelly Rowland's single would be ahead of Beyonce's on the charts? #21 on the Hot 100, while Beyonce's is #29. Kelly's single already hit number 1 on R&B charts, is currently #2 while Beyonce is at #30. To say it is surprising is an understatement, although I don't believe for a second that it will translate into bigger album sales for Kelly. Big STARS still have better album sales for the most part. But it is nice to see Kelly is doing well on her own!!!

It’s hard not to feel a little bad for Kelly Rowland. The only singer except Beyoncé to last the entirety of Destiny’s Child’s run, her solo career has had a similarly second-fiddle quality to it — how could it not? But she does herself no favors by choosing consistently bland material, and her third album does nothing to dispel the sense that Rowland should be more selective. There’s a deflated, defensive quality to “Here I Am,” starting with the lead track, “I’m that Chick,” which features her mewling, “I’m not tacky, I just love myself,” and declaring that she’s “putting on a show so you can check me out.”
“Feeling Me Right Now” is about Rowland falling in love with her own reflection in the mirror, an awkward attempt at cleverness that sounds like something forcefully rejected from the last Robyn album. (It’s also confusing — if you don’t pick up on the metaphor, it sounds like she’s singing about picking up a woman at a club. Maybe she’s going for some of those Katy Perry dollars as well?) The secondhand beats and phoned-in guest spots don’t help, either — the nadir might be Lil Wayne on the inaptly titled “Motivation”: “I let her ride/While I drive her crazy.” By the time the album ends with the stomping Euro-cheese “Down for Whatever,” with lyrics as shrugged-off as the title, it’s hard not to want to find Rowland a life coach.

New X Factor judge Kelly Rowland: Don't rule out a Destiny's Child reunion with Beyonce

KELLY ROWLAND has finally paved the way for a Destiny’s Child reunion.
Just days after insisting the girls have not discussed a comeback, the beautiful 30-year-old has admitted it could happen once she and Beyonce get their new albums out of the way.
The main obstacle appeared to be possible bad blood over her decision to ditch Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, as her manager in 2009.
But Beyonce herself dropped her dad in March – and Kelly has smoothed over any ill feeling by praising his role in her career.
She explained: “I’m still very supportive of Matthew and have been since day one.
“He has done great with Destiny’s Child. He set us up to have great careers so I wish him the best.”
Kelly’s latest solo record, Here I Am, has just been released in the US and will be out in the UK in November to tie in with her role as an X Factor judge.
And Beyonce’s album, 4, is riding high in the charts at the moment.
Kelly went on to say that, although the girls are busy, some sort of reunion is a possibility once their schedules are clear.
“Right now, Bey has just dropped a record, I am about to drop a record and we are making our own music.
“Michelle (Williams, the group’s third member) is doing her plays and that is all going great for her. We still support each other and I think that is all part of growing up. You go out to make decisions on your own and I support every decision they make. Whatever that is, I’m going to be completely supportive.”
Kelly’s new album has a more dance music feel. So would she have a problem going back to R&B with Destiny’s Child?
“I don’t really like it when people try to put me in a box. I don’t think that I’m one thing in particular. When I was recording my dance album I was also recording smoochies, so I would not say I am strictly one type of music.
“My album is inspired by life. It has its twists and turns and it’s about challenges and ups and downs. And love. And business and relationships and time spent by yourself. It’s a lot about me.
“It is my thoughts – that you don’t usually let anybody in to but the lyrics find their way to the paper.”
Even though she is one of the biggest female stars in the world – and pals with probably THE biggest – Kelly admits she’s still in awe of certain other singers.
“The first time I met Whitney Houston, I was completely starstruck. I didn’t say a word.
“I was with Destiny’s Child and at the Grammy’s. Before we knew it, Bobby Brown came up to us and said, ‘Wow, my wife is dying to meet y’all.’
“Immediately then I was a different person. I couldn’t say a word, my face changed, I felt like I was going to pass out. She is one of the reasons I wanted to be a singer. She’s my idol.”
Kelly’s biggest goal with her music is to make people feel the way she does when she sings along to Whitney’s albums while out in her car.
“I sing as if no one is listening when I’m in the car. It is that moment that I can actually be Whitney Houston. Or Aretha Franklin.
“When I am driving from the studio in the car is when I listen to my songs on the stereo to see how they sound. The way I feel when I listen to the Goo Goo Dolls or Whitney – I want people to feel the same way when they listen to my music.”
Kelly is also renowned for her style and admits to getting inspiration from a few iconic women.
“It is a toss-up between Audrey Hepburn and Jennifer Lopez. And Halle Berry is another one. I love those three women.
“I like to feel like a woman, so I like a lot of dresses, but I also love wearing jeans with something a bit quirky. I’d call my style casual-sexy.
“When I am just chilling and working, I like to have nice skinny jeans on with a comfortable T-shirt and a nice blazer.
“But when I’m home, I’m all about dresses. In Miami, it is all about a nice dress.”
Despite her fortune, Kelly is not a designer label junky – she loves clothes, not labels.
“I shop anywhere. It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m not about named brands, I just love fashion.
“I love it when things feel good, when they look great on and when they give you an extra boost of confidence. But when I travel, I like to see who the main designer is there and maybe go to visit their boutique.
“And I am probably more of a shoe girl than a clothes girl.”
And Kelly will be showing off her favourite outfits on our screens as she looks for stars as a new judge and mentor on the UK’s X Factor.
Having already been on the panel for the auditions, she can’t wait for the live shows in autumn.
“It is really good to see the talent and especially the young talent. I’m excited to see who comes through and which one will go furthest.”
Kelly insists she is still single – but does admit to having a “friend with benefits”. “There’s nobody I’m dating. I have a special friend,” she says.
And what is she after in a man?
“Good conversation. I need to be stimulated intellectually.”
And it will be a lucky man indeed who finally gets this Destiny Child.

EDIT: Whoa! Judging by that clip from Leno, I'd say she's a much improved live performer. Some of her notes still come out flat (Maybe she's nervous), but overall, she did a good job... definitely better than when she was promoting her first album.

Her new album sounds really good to me ! I really wanted work it man to be her next single but lay it on me is just as good. My favs have to be those 2 , motivation , all of the night , and turn it up . Down for what ever just pisses me off because of Red ones re-use samples from Jlos on the floor.

It's indeed "Motivation" singer Kelly Rowland's year. On the heels of a #1 single and hit album Here I Am, TheYBF.com has learned Ms. Rowland just nabbed a deal to star in her very own sitcom!

A major cable network just offered Kelly Rowland a deal to star in her own sitcom.
We've learned the deal was just put on paper yesterday, and the deal should be signed, sealed, and delivered within a few weeks.
She'll begin filming the pilot episode of the yet-to-be named sitcom January 2012.
Kelly is sharpening her acting chops with her new role on the upcoming ensemble cast movie Think Like A Man. And she's also starred in "Girlfriends" a few years ago and movies like Seat Filler, Mama I Want To Sing!, and Freddy vs. Jason.
While we can't yet reveal which major cable network offered up this sitcom deal, let's just say the network is no stranger to giving YBF chicks their shot at stardom.
Kelly also recently confirmed her tour will kick off this September. And Chris Brown & T-Pain will be joining her in the multi-city fun.

Kelly Rowland did it way big while shooting the Sarah Chatfield-directed video for “Lay It on Me,” the second single off her third album Here I Am. Rap-Up TV captured exclusive footage from the sizzling set as the R&B goddess changed into several revealing outfits including a dominatrix with metallic cape, black leotard, and gold catsuit, draping herself over her half-naked co-stars.
The Destiny’s Child diva flirted with hip-hop’s hottest newcomer Big Sean, who explained what it was like to work with the sexy singer.
“It’s always tight being around Kelly Rowland. You can’t really complain. She’s always fine as hell,” said the G.O.O.D. Music MC. “I really like how she has the energy of a new artist, but she’s such a vet in the game. She’s so legendary and sold millions of record, but she’ll come in the room and greet everybody. She has no ego and that’s something I really look up to.”
But Sean wasn’t the only guest cozying up to Kelly. An elephant named Suzy wrapped her new friend in her trunk as Kelly whipped her hair back and forth.
