Hmmm I saw on the news that a Florida Doctor Martinez has discovered a cure for Diabetes . His cure appears to work on all forms of Diabetes , even the out of controlled type like mine .... The good doctor says that his cure is based around a form of "Dried Lettuce" .... and will probably be available for humans in about four to five years ... I'm seriously considering writting and asking about being a "Test Subject" ... He's not that far away .... Damm ! A Real CURE .. that is what he is claiming !!
Tomorrow I am going to take the bad check that Nick wrote to me and have the bank verify that it has Never had the proper funds to cover it in the account .... Then I am taking it to the courthouse and filing charges ... This is probably one of the hardest things that I've had to do ..BUT Nick has not shown me any respect whatsoever and has not made any attempt to pay on his accounts with me ... so I got to do ..what I got to do ...
I also need to take the Dog and have his nails trimmed ... ohhhhh what a day ... as I really need to contact sme of the mortgage folks and get them off their dead butts and finding something out ... and ..go to the newspaper and place ads for a roomie ...

Lettuce May Be The Next Big Diabetes Treatment

Capsules of insulin produced in genetically modified lettuce could hold the key to restoring the body's ability to produce insulin and help millions of Americans who suffer from insulin-dependent diabetes, according to University of Central Florida biomedical researchers.

A team of scientists at the University of Central Florida thought it could be, and their research is causing a lot of excitement in the medical community.

A ground, dried lettuce pile can contain enough insulin to treat Type one diabetes in six to eight mice.
"We have produced insulin in plant cells -- specifically lettuce -- and orally deliver the lettuce directly in capsules," said Henry Daniell, a professor at UCF.
Dr. Henry Daniell says Type one diabetes is an autoimmune disease. The body doesn't recognize the protein and attacks insulin and insulin-producing cells. This eventually destroys the pancreas, meaning patients will need to be on insulin for life.
But, Daniell said that after eight weeks, the body of a mouse understood insulin was food.
"Once it stops fighting, the pancreas comes back alive because there are a lot of stem cells in pancreas. It's repopulated," Daniell said.
That means patients wouldn't have to take insulin the rest of their lives.
"Once it's put inside a plant cell and when it's ingested in the stomach, that plant cell is surrounded by a cell wall and the cell wall protects it from amino acids in the stomach and also from enzymes for digesting. But, when the plant cell reaches the gut, bacteria pokes holes in the plant cell wall and releases the insulin," Daniell said.
Daniell said the capsules could be used to prevent diabetes before there are any symptoms, treat the disease in later stages, and even eliminate it completely."
"When this is absorbed, we anticipate that this methodology would cure diabetes and not simply provide temporary relief," Daniell said.
It is also more cost-effective. Insulin costs Americans billons of dollars, but by eliminating the fermentation and purification process, Dr. Daniell's insulin capsules will cost pennies to produce.
Daniell said the next step is human clinical trials. He said he expects to enter the third phase in about two years, and that would be open to anyone with Type one diabetes
Once complete, the capsules will be ready for FDA approval.
the National Institutes of Health provided 2 million U.S. dollars to fund the study. The findings are reported in Plant Biotechnology Journal.

I believe that I finally have a mortgage company that will give me the re-fi and at about 6.5% ... that equals lower payments and I still get my $5,000 cash out like I wanted ...
Then IF Nick keeps his word for once and pays me thsi week the $2,000 he has promised ... I will definately be doing ok .....
Especially; If I can get that other room rented ... the ad comes out in Saturdays paper ... So; I'll be holding my breath ....
I took the dog and had his nails trimmed today ..he already seems so much better .. I should have done it sooner ... SHAME on Me !!
I was hopeing that my buddy up in Ohio would come on down like he talked about ... BUT he has pussied out . he'd rather stay with this bitch who bosses him around all the time and treats him more like a kid than an adult .... tells him EVERY move to make ..when to go to bed , what he is going to eat, what clothes to wear ..etc .. than come on down here and get away from all that ..

Ohhhh I wish that someone decent would answere that ad for a roommate that I've got in the paper ... There have been a few calls ; BUT always from someone who needs a place now ;BUT won't get paid for a week or two days etc ...and I am not falling for those stories anymore ... I need the $$ up front or ya' don't move in here ...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Nick keeps his word and hands over the two grand this week like he has promised ... I've got my doubts . He hasn't been fair or told the truth so far, so why would he start now ... Anyway ; I am going to wait and see if he does ... if he doesn't ; then his ass is mine and he goes to small claims ...
I understand that my good friend up in Ohio still might want to come down and live here ...I sure hope so ... his daughter told me tonight ..so I'm just a hopeing ...

Ohhh ... I got into an argument with the one guy who was going to re-fi me . I called and was on hold while he was on the phone ... then; he hung up and began taking calls from folks who had called in after I did ..I know this because when I first called, his secretary said he was on the phone and I'd be next ..then she said two other calls came in and he'd take those and then talk to me ... Finally; when he did ; I told him to go get Fucked and I'd find someone else to do the re fi .. and I did .
I did find another company ... talked them down from 8.25% interest to 7.5% and maybe even lower ... I'm kinda glad as this company has a policy that IF I would happen to need some xtra $$$ during certain months ... I can just make a Min imum payment .... no big deal ... and save about $500 that mpnth for my emergency ...
So far; no word from Nick ... the ball is in his court ; and if he does not pay ... he'll be in REAL court ....
I'm definately sticking to what I know is right for the room for rent .... None of the sob stories and bawling this time ... I need my money and that is all there is to it .. heck ; I've got my fingers crossed, legs crossed and even my eyes ..lol ... Thanks to all who are reading my woes and crossing whatever with me ...

Although I really do not want to , it seems that I'll have to begin filing charges on Nick and going to court ......:(
He NEVER showed up at all this week to pay the $$$ he had promised and he did not even make a phone call to let me know .... :confused:
In the meantime, Joe got a job doing the same work he did and so far his check for next Friday will be at $1,200.00 .... So; he will be able to get caught up on his rent ... and I'll have a little xtra $$$ to maybe take Adam out ....:-)
However; this week end , I am so broke ... I can't even pay attention ... :grrr: excuse the OLD joke .... lol .... so, I'll stay home and watch a movie or two .... maybe bring up a couple of metal storage shelves from the shed and re arrange the garage ... to make room for them .. ](*,)
I'm resigned to remaining here in Florida for at least a year ... maybe two ... :cry: BUT; it won't be too bad .... I LOVE the weather and the Hurricanes don't bother me in the least ...:eek:

Ok .. it has been a few days since I was last here ... Sorry; BUT I have been busy trying to get a re fi for my home before I lost the damm thing ... and I DID !!
After calling and being called by over 29 different mortgage companies ... going over interest rates, fixed and arms ... pre pay penalty or not ...etc ... This last place called me today .. the man got me a 30 year, FIXED rate of 2.45% with NO Prepayment Penalty ...... I'll be saving over $500 per Month !!!! I can hardly believe it .... FINALLY; something going right for me ... WOW !!!
Yes; OHIO is on hold for now ... with payments like this ... it will allow me to rebuild my credit that Nick cost me ... as well as my bank account that he drained .... and in a year .. probably two, I'll be ready to sell again as values will definately have gone UP ... they are building all over the place here ... Construction is everywhere in this area ...
At this rate ; I don't even have to worry about having a roomie or not .... lol .... geeeee I even feel kinda giddy ... I'd better get off here and play on the net a little and then go on to bed ... Good Night !!!! ..|
 
Well , the mortgage company called today and said that they would order the appraisal .. I'm not really worried about it as I know the value of the house is well worth more than the mortgage will be .... and they say that we will close by the end of next week .... so far, so good ....
Thanks to ya'll who are following my trials and tribulations ... there always seems to be something going on .... lol ....
David; I do hope that you get your place rented SOON ! I've had the one room for rent now since the 1st and no one yet that I will approve of ... I've decided to be really picky this time ...

Well ; the appraiser showed up today over 40 minutes early ... then spent just about fifteen minutes here looking around and measuring ... as he was getting ready to leave, he told me that property was going down and he should know ... I told him that may be so in other areas ; BUT not in thsi one ... I've had this property appraised last November and again in June by a realtor ... That is when it got nasty ... He started to laugh and inform that IF realtors knew what they were talking about, that they wouldn't have a use for a property appraiser ....
At this point; I told him that I felt that the Realtors have a better grasp of what the value of homes are because they are in the field seeing various homes everyday and selling them etc .... all he does is to look around and go find what other homes in the area are selling for ... Susposse my home has features that those did not and vice versa ... so I was pissed and he knew it ; but seemed kinda flip about it . SO; I told him that IF my appraisal comes in considerably "Low" ; I'll just stop payment on the check that I post dated for this very reason .... He told me I couldn't do that; BUT I said,"Watch Me" and he left ...
Looks like I'll find out Monday or so just how it all turned out ... it doesn't really mattter ... the house is still worth a lot more than the new mortgage will be ...

Nothing much going on around here right now ... Just waiting for tomorrow , so the Mortgage Company can let me know how the appraisal came out and when we can close ... Hopefully by Friday ....
Since I'm going to be staying here ... I think I'm going to take up the Carpet in teh Living and Dining Rooms ... put down a Laminate Flooring .. I hear it is easier to maintain than wood ... lots easier to clean ... then in the kitchen ; maybe put down a red brick vinyl ... always wanted one of those in the kitchen ...
I need to have the blower for the Heat Pump brought down from attic/crawl space and placed in the garage ... so i can change the filters ... the guy who was susposse to be doing it moved and I found out there are NO filters in it ... so if it is down where I can get to it ..I can do it myself ... I'll probably have the atttic area re-insulated too ... perhaps save on the heat and ac bills ...
My old toaster died this week end ... so I went over to Kholes and got a new one ..a Black 'n Decker ..was on sale from $59.00 to $32.00 .... Yeah for saving a few $$$ .

Before I begin MY story etc ... I'd just like to wish David the very best of luck ... IF you know your boss is going to sell the place ; wouldn't now be the time to find another place to live even if you have to take in a roomie as I've done ... ?
Ok; It appears that my appraisal went over in flying colors ... even coming in about Fifteen Grand OVER what I'd expected .... We should close Friday and have all the financial stuff settled by next Wednesday ... I can hardly wait ...
My God Daughter wants to move down to Florida ... she is looking at apartments over the web etc .... and I've placed a couple online for her ... BUT; MOST of these places want to see your last six monts INCOME / Pay Check Stubs to make sure that they will get their $$$$ Rents ... and that makes sense to me ... SO; that means that I'll probably have to end up allowing her and her son stay with me for about three months until she can get a job and save some pay stubs etc .... then; IF there is a waiting list at the complex ... I'll just have to endure ... OMG ... !!
However; Her dad says IF she comes to Florida ..he is also .... guess I'd have to throw a 2nd bed up in my room again ... lol ... wouldn't be the 1st time he and I shared a bedroom anyway ...

I don't really know where to begin ... It just appears that everything is finally starting to go in my direction for a change ...
First: The appraisal came thru for MORE than I ever dreamed it would ... so I'm very satisfied about that . Now; the closing should go thru sometime this wekk and I'll get my $$$ by Wednesday or Thursday ....
2nd: My very good friend up in Pennsylvania is going to move down here and take the xtra room that I'm renting out . So; I will have someone that i can trust living here , the xtra income, and a really good friend ... I just can't believe it !!
3rd: My Godaughter also wants to move down about the first of the year ..... which is about the time that I expect Joe to move to California as that is all he talks about ... so that room would be taken ....
Can it get much better ? WOW .... ohhhhh I just hope that I'm not dreamin' and wake up .... lol ...
Got to play around on here a little and get to bed ...Hopefully we WILL close the re fi today (Monday) !!!

I always Hate the delays ... this new federal Mortgage Law that went into efffect on October 1st is what is holding my re fi up ... they have to get out more disclosure statements or so they say ... I'm really starting to get pissed though . If something is not done THIS week, I'm calling the president of Fidelity Mortgage and raising Hell !! I'm tired of all the damm delays ...
I talked to Michael up in Pa today .. He says that he will be down the first week of November , if not before ... so ..just need to wait and see. He's said he was coming down before and then did not show up ...
Ok; I'm heading for bed ...taking Joe to traffic court in the morning ... should make him walk .He had NO business driving on an expired liscense and tag ....

It appears that tomorrow is going to be the big day when I finally close on the re fi ... Just in time , as I'm down to my last few $$$$ .... and getting scared . Of course; I won't get the check until three business days or Tuesday , maybe even Wednesday of next week ... But; that is ok with me ....

Right now; I am so f'n Pissed Off that it is difficult to even get my words together ... and I've been like this since the closing on Friday night ..... where I got SCREWED by Fidelity Mortgage .
Ya'll know just how long I've been fighting and working to get a good re-fi on my house here in Central Florida .... then; I find a company who PROMISES and even sends me papers with a specified Interest Rate , Specefied Payment Ammounts, and the words, "No Prepayment Penalty" checked ...
Each and Every paper that I've received from them since we talked had the same figures and terms .... and I was F'n elated with my credit the way it is ..... What a deal , I was getting ....
Friday night the notary from the "Signing Service" shows up ..... to "Close" the deal etc .... First; instead of the 2.45 % loan as quoted on each and every document that they had sent me ... it now read 8.75% .
Instead of "No Prepayment penalty" ... it reads that under "Certain Conditions" they can charge me a Prepayment Penalty . Like IF I sell the house before they want me to . If I take out another loan and don't use them etc ...
The payment is no longer listed as $283.00 ; Oh Hell NO ... it is now down as $641.00 for twelve months and then goes HIGHER every twelve months .... or so ...
Instead of getting back $10,000 as "Cash Out" as they have been PROMISING me all this time ... I'll get just over $2,800.00 and that is it !!
Lastly ; although I have a Homeowners Policy in place and PAID for ... they added took an additional $936 from my funds and purchased ANOTHER Homeowners Policy ..... Too Bad for me ?
Well ... they don't realize just who they are screwing with ..... On Monday/Tuesday whenever they are next open ; I am going to the offices of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper as well as the Daytona Journal-Herald and speak to reporters and see IF they'd like to do an Investigative Story on this situation ..... I'm also calling WESH and Fox TV news .. their consmer watch-assistance divisions and see if thos ereporters want to do a story . Hell; I'm so pissed that I might even call CNN and see if they want to do a story on how the mortgage companies will rip of a Disabled American Veteran . Speaking of that; I'm also filing a complaint with the DAV's Main Headquarters as well as the Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce , and the Secretary of State.
Ok; I've rattled enough ... time to play around on here a little and then go to bed .... :mad:
 
Well , Today I went to another mortgage company who wasn't able to assist me before ; BUT the guy had said IF I even needed any assistance to come and see him ...
He looked over those closing papers etc and said that what they were doing is UNETHICAL as well as ILLEGAL and that someone could go to Jail ... and have some heavy Fines ... possibly even lose their broker's license ....
So; I've already faxed in my cancellations of this re-fi , as bad as I needed it ....
Tomorrow; I begin filing my complaints to the appropiate government offices and the media ...
Also ; I need to get myself in gear and FIND a good mortgage for someone with a not too great of credit score ....

Ok; I took time to cool down after I cancelled the contract for the re-fi .... then I receied a call from the President of the Mortgage Company ....
There were several apologies and a "mix Up' in just what was going on .... However; as he pointed out , my monthly payment is still over $250 LESS than any other company can offer me ... and after twelve months , it would still be over $150 from what I am paying now ....
He went on to agree that in just one year , when my credit rating is a lot better and I guarantee you it will be ... that his company will do another re fi for me at NO CHARGE .... if I want to see IF they can get a lower payment yet as well as interest rate .... So we did reach an understanding ...
Now; I have to re sign some more papers on Friday and won't get my $$$$ until Tuesday .... BUT; I'm glad this is just about done ...
Nick came by yesterday and talked ... don't know IF he is being truthful ; BUT he says he wants to rebuild our friendship etc ... and will start paying when he starts getting paid from the job he started today ....
Hopefully; my buddy , Michael will make it down the first week of November .... I'd hate to think I lost $460 in rent for someone who just gave me lip service and had no intention of coming on down ..

Now that everything is back on track and my nervs are calming back down ... I'm going to go spend some $$$$ on a few DVDs tomorrow ....
What I do is wait for the new releases to come out for like $19.95 etc ... then by the week end , "Some" folks have brought it , watched it, and taken it to places like the used video store (Movie Stop) and sold it . Then they sell it for like $13.95 to $14.95, I save $$$ and it has only been watched usually ONCE ....
I want to get Wrong Turn 2, Black Sheep, and Twenty Eight Weeks Later ........
So when I get back from running down to Sanford ... to the Movie Stop ; I'm coming home and cut the rest of the backyard as I finally figured out how to fix my mower .... and now it works ... It will take a long time as the grass is now over a foot tall in some areas ....
The man is coming tomorrow to measure and give me an estimate for the new flooring . Since I did not get all the $$$ I was hopeing for ; I will only be able to do the Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen ... I've also got a coupon for 1/4 off which I will give to him AFTER he gives me my estimate ....
THEN .... I'm going to get me nice cold Diet Tea with Citrus and watch a dvd or two ...

Thank God the closing on the re fi is done and over with ... by complaining ... they somehow gave me over $2,000 MORE than they was the last time two weeks ago ... lol ....
The one guy was late and then he called and told me his computer died ... so he had to call the Settlement service who sent a lady Closer ... she was 2 hours LATE as she got lost .
Anyway ; it is finished and I'm Glad ....
Now; I've just got to find the right Laminate flooring that is not too expensive .... it is the damm Labor to Install that cost a fortune .... Hell; I'm not made of $$$$ .... and did not want to spend it all on the floor ...
Ok ..I'm off to bed ... :-)

Actually; there won't be a dime to really blow ... I only got about 1/2 of what I was asking for in cash out ... The new floors will cost me around $2,300.00 , to have the furnace blower moved will cost $800 , the tree that has been laying in my yard will run just under $150 to be removed , then I need to pay off one credit card which will be $1,000 and I want to get: Different Bed that is adjustable since I have acid reflux and if my bed can raise up ..I'll get more sleep , a weed eater,edger, chainn saw, and a blower ... I'll have just about $125.00 left and I plan on taking Adam (my 14 yr.old nephew) to Smoky Bones and spending the rest on DVDs for my DVD library ....
Nick has been coming around trying to make small talk etc ... I told him that HE screwed things up and that when he gets his new job ... I expect him to begin paying or pack for jail .... he just comes over and sits in the living room playing with the dog ... and talking about all the mistakes he has made .... Mainly not being a better person to the one person who was Always there for him .."ME" ...
