Christ. And I haven't even finished Kingdom hearts 1 or 2 yet...

Looks cool though.

EP, it likely is a teaser for a KHIII. KH Final Mix had a teaser for KHII, so it's logical; plus, I might have seen something in a Japanese magazine about it, but I can't swear to it.

Thanks for sharing Effortless.

Is there any truth to the assumption that KHIII will be going by a different name and wont be called 'Kingdom Hearts' at all? My friend and I were just talking about the series today in class.

Either way, the creators are working on other games before this so we wont get it until 2009 at the earliest.

i can't wait til Kingdom Hearts 3.... it would be the biggest temptation to make me fork over the money for a PS3...

I've lost all enthusiasm for the KH series after KH 2. I was really hyped when I heard about the double keybades and different forms that would be available, not to mention whole worlds based on POTC and Steamboat Willy cartoons. What I got though was a completely linear, boring game that had the most pointless and draged on opening gameplay sequence with the most EMO character imaginable in the form of Roxas.
I was just so disappointed that it was not as huge and big replay value as part one where you could find or earn new keyblades, synthesise new items with ease and the boss battles were actually difficult and lent itself to actually force you to use your mind to beat them. Was I the only one who was disappointed majorly with the second game ? I mean, even the non boss heartless were easy when compared to the first game and at least with the worlds in KH 1 there was incentive to replay them in some areas in order to unlock new areas or earn a stronger keyblade.
Has anyone heard if the KH 2 FINAL MIX has fixed these problems, or is it more or less the same game only with the extended ending ?

The US version of KH1 had the teaser trailer for KHII. You had to complete the game with 100% completion to unlock it, and it ran after the final credits. I remember this because I spent HOURS trying to beat Sephiroth just to unlock it.

One thing that I did like about KH 2 was that it was heavily suggested that there were many Keyblade weilders before Sora, so maybe this new KH game will be sort of like a sequel that shows some new Keyblade owners that exist AFTER Sora.

Roxas no longer exists because of what happened in the event at the beginning of KH 2 if you remember, the same way with Namine and Kari if I remember. So it cannot be Roxas is part 3 unless something MAJOR happens to Sora. But there are a few tid bits they left in part 2 I DO want answered in part 3, such as -

- That letter Sora, Riku and kari got from King Mickey at the end of KH 2. They all looked so surprised and anxious when they read it.

- Riku's ' Double'. It was never truly explained in KH 2 if he gained one, though it was speculated that it was indeed the Axel dude. If anything Axel/Roxas is a mirror to the Riku/Sora relationship.

- How Kari was able to weild a Keyblade.

- If Riku will ever regain his status as the first and true Keyblade owner. Remember, the Keyblade originally was sent to him but it chose Sora instead when it realised darkness was taking over Riku's heart.

- The Riku/Sora subtext was so blatant even my baptist grandmother would pick up on it at one glance. Did you think the slash element of that was intentional ?

- What truly happened to Donald, Goofy and Mickey at the end of KH 2 and after they returned to their world after taking Sora and Co home.

- Who created the keyblade in the first place, why it is able to be passed down from one owner to the next and it's true purpose of being able to lock and unlock worlds as it can.

- Other past owners of the keyblade and what happened to them. KH 2 suggested heavily that some previous owners of the Keyblade were stronger and better than Sora, as some members of Organisation 13 commented that they were surprised the Keyblade chose Sora when it seemed to choose stronger weilders in the past.

But remember that before KH 2 came out there was mass debate on Roxas being Sora as both characters looked a heck of a lot alike in stills and videos. So perhaps it is Sora but in a different guise ? My money is that the three knights are Kari, Sora and Riku and that this is set somewhere in the beginning of the new game and the rest of it is sort of a prequel that tells us of the event leading up to the major fight scene we are shown in the video.
One thing I find facinating though that is shown in the video is the 'graveyard' of the Keyblades that surround the group and look to be in the shape of a cross. Does that mean that Sora and Co had to visit all those worlds to find something ? Or are these sort of headstones for the Keyblade bearers that came before them ?

Actually on full inspection of the video I reckon that it does appear to be a lot like Roxas once you see the close up of him frozen. And the blue haired chick looks a lot like Kari for some reason, not to mention the 'older' brown haired knight looks a lot like Riku to me. And did you notice that the bad guy's bodyguard was wearing the same type of Heartless black suit that Riku wore in KH 1 ? Interesting.
LOL - Loved the King Mikey at the end.
Judging from the location with all the Keyblades, perhaps this is the true resting place of the Kingdom Hearts itself ?

All I'm hoping for is for the game to have a heck of a lot more indepth playability in it thanks to the PS 3 processing and graphics power. I want WHOLE worlds to be able to be explored and have many hidden areas and secret items/keyblades in them, not to mention more secret items, more keyblades and better incentive to actually use two keyblades instead of two. I hated how linear KH 2 was and only played it through once and to me it had no real incentive to replay it as KH 1 did, as the first one had a lot of hidden areas, extra keyblades and side missions that MADE you WANT to replay it.
And I agree. KH 3 will be pulling the rug out from underneath us by the looks of the video you posted. But I am praying that Riku and Sora and Kari are still the main focus, as you can totally kill a franchise also by not only creating a weak instalment ala KH 2, but also if you replace a cast with a whole new set of characters. It ruins the emotional investment people have placed in the game and the world for years and they WILL feel cheated and turn their backs on you.

As I mentioned in your GOW 2 thread, that many sequels are now being released on other platforms as well as PS 3 for many reasons other than the fact that there is no such thing as brand loyalty anymore. That, and that many developers are just tired of how complicated the PS 3's system is apparantly to work with when developing games on it to begin with.
But yeah, I'm hoping that at least on a new next gen system that the worlds in KH can be made bigger and expanded upon to at least give each world a bit more incentive to be revisited and explored.

There is debate now that KH 2 FINAL MIX may be coming to the US and Europe in the next few months, and I pray that the rumours will turn out to be true if the added bonuses are anything to go on. New Keyblades, extra scenes, new sections of the worlds to explore, extra optional bosses and quests and so on. Sounds sweet.

For anyone that cares...

The games creator has stated that the three people are original characters, which means that the only returning character that we know of so far is MICKEY MOUSE who wears a blouse like postman pat with his black and white hat.

sora, kairi and riku are not in the video... this had been stated before by the creator....

personally, i would love the concept of sora being one in a long line of keyblade weilder.... its too often that games make the main character be way too special and unique.... nice to see something different...

KH II sucked balls. The major issue for me was lack of interactivity with the stages that made the last game so enjoyable. KH1 had a solid balance of action, platforming and RPG elements.

KHII? You arrive in the stage. You press X rapidly and watch Sora perform crazy over the top moves as he completely destroys the opposition. Then you watch a cutscene. Than you do fight. Cutscene. Fight. No platforming. No exploration. Just a straight line through bland looking environments. Sidequests were minimal as well.

KHIII is most likely coming to the PS3 as the developer wants to have a vast environment with many worlds and a sort of "Keyblade Wielders Corps." Disney characters will again likely make an appearance.

A Kingdom Hearts III spinoff will likely come to either the Wii or the DS or both.
And this game won't come out for about two years at the very most...which is more than enough time for the PS3 to build it's fanbase. In less than a month, the PS3 has sold nearly 1 million consoles.

Also Disney is a key stockholder of the Blu-Ray Association. Kingdom Hearts isn't Kingdom Hearts without Disney. Disney has key interest in the support of Blu-Ray since they signed on exclusivity to the format. They have more than enough leverage to make Square-Enix publish the game on PS3.

Also the Xbox 360 simply doesn't have enough presence in Japan...a country that represents more than 65% of the JRPG market.....

The main game's coming to PS3. And a couple of spin-offs are coming to the Wii and DS.
