Kirsten Dunst to play Deborah Harry in a movie

Blondie star Deborah Harry has hit back at reports she's unhappy with the casting of Kirsten Dunst in a forthcoming biopic of the singer, admitting the two stars have met and chatted about the project. Dunst dealt with the initial internet criticism she received when she was first cast in the Michel Gondry film by stating Harry actually chose her for the role, and inviting unhappy Blondie fans to "take it up with her." But subsequent reports have suggested Harry was far from happy with the idea of Dunst playing her. Now the punk icon has spoken out about the fuss, telling Spinner.com she has given the actress her personal blessing. She says, "She's (Dunst) a really sweet person. I've met with her a couple of times and hung out with her socially. She's just a sweetie. She's probably capable of a lot of things she hasn't been asked to do yet, and doing something that's sort of left of centre would be great for her."

I don't know how I feel about this. I love Debbie Harry, I don't like Kirsten Dunst, but I love Michel Gondry. I'll just have to wait and see if this looks good or not.

I think Kirsten could pull off Heart of Glass, Tide Is High, Rapture Debbie and get the facial expressions down pretty good. That side of Debbie I'm not worried about.

I question whether she can do Detroit442, Victor, Rip Her To Shreds, Youth Nabbed As Sniper Debbie and convey the angst, anger, frustration, and energy. I feel that it's important that this side of Debbie be in the movie. I'll give Kirsten the benefit of the doubt, though.

Michelle Pfeiffer would've been a good choice, I think.

Whenever i see Kirsten Dunst i just want to punch her in her stupid face, i like Debbie Harry, not in a crazed fan way, i just think her music is good, i don't think Kunst will do her any justice!

I think she'll do fine. I love Kirsten and all her movies are good. Plus she does have some sort of singing ability. She did do a song for the Get Over It soundtrack.

Debbie was so hot and Kirsten is so fug! Why would they cast that mask looking bitch as Debbie? Is Kirsten's family in the casting business or something? The girl is not attractive. She could play a strung out hooker though. That I could see.
