I read an excerpt from an interview where he said he wished he were gay so he'd piss off the fundies. He was an incredible talent and a great man, taken from us much too soon.

In my opinion he was gay, channeling his sexual, and emotional frustrations into music where, he was super talented....sadly missed, by me. also.

I agree--I've known "pretty boys" like Kurt who think they are gay when they are young--confusing pretty with gay maybe---but he had some kind of issues--hooking up with a dominate bitch like Courtney Love.

Cobain's admission that he felt gay as a teen, yearning physical intimacy with a male friend might well suggest that his later life, laced with drugs was pretty much one of self denial of a man trying hard to hide his true self in a closet, more a prison cell...calculated to conceal his feelings, and sexual desires.

Well if he was giving interviews in which he spoke about this openly then I really don't think we can doubt he explored this side of himself and realised he was probably straight. He was pretty open with his emotions etc that I dont think we can doubt his choice of lifestyle really. Its wishful thinking to assign him gay in death.

He was pretty open with his emotions etc that I dont think we can doubt his choice of lifestyle really. Its wishful thinking to assign him gay in death.

Cobain's recorded words that he felt gay, needing physical intimacy with a male friend, would suggest to me that his confession was more than a reference to a passing phase when a teenager....otherwise, as an adult, and celebrity why did he make such an issue of it in the interview.

Kurt, from what I knew, was incredibly forthright and not above pissing off people just to do it - I mean, he wore a dress on his appearance on The Headbangers' Ball, so I'm sure if he felt he was certain about his sexuality he would have come out without another thought.

But, the man is dead. Can't really infer about what his "true" desires were.

Sexual orientation is neither a "lifestyle" nor a choice. Some people may suppress their sexuality and choose not to acknowledge it but that does not mean it isn't there and certainly does not mean they've changed it. They know it's there, they just don't want anyone else to find out.

If he was truly thining maybe he was gay, I'd say he was confusing his social bonding with his friend(s) and the physical camaraderie as somehow homo-erotic. Unless he was thinking he wanted physical sex with a guy I doubt if he was gay. His later deterioration into drink and drugs may be due to the way he was working so hard on the road with his band. By any stretch of the imagination, being adulated by thousands of fans and then having to come down from that high so he can get some shuteye will have driven any sane person to drink and drugs. His wife was a mess too. Poor Francis Bean. When he killed himself, I felt bad for his child, real bad losing a father in such a senseless way.

I do wonder what would have happened to Nirvana had he survived the drugs and drinking. Would they have lasted, and still be relevant and popular, or turned to shit like many other 90s bands did.

I may be alone here, but I was never convinced Kurt was a genius. I also don't buy the "I never wanted to be famous" nonsense he was renowned for.

In his moments of sanity he demonstrated a talent that attracted an enormous adoring fan base, appreciated by many today, including me....the captioned recorded interview also informs us that his teen years attraction to males remained a sufficiently powerful influence into his adult years to inspire him to discuss his experiences.

It could well be argued that had Cobain accepted his sexual orientation as a gay man, rather than sliding back into his closet when fame struck, he may well have avoided his journey of no return into heroin...and suicide.....I appreciate that I'm speculating...while also recognising that there are those who reject any thought that their childhood heroes could possibly be gay...nevertheless, Cobain's recorded confession to "feeling gay" might well suggest he was, what he says he was...despite his closeted life.

This isn't news at all. It's really, really old news. His experiences with homosexual friends and homophobia have ALWAYS been known. I wish the fucking media would fucking let him rest in peace already.
