This story concerns us because Aruba belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Barely.

Officially it's a municipality of the Netherlands, but in practice it's as close to a foreign country as you could get. I, for one, feel no connection whatsoever to Aruba. This murder concerns me as much as when it would have happened in, say, Rio de Janeiro.

Aruba may be a part of this country, but that's not why it was covered so extensively, and it's definitely not the reason for Peter R. de Vries' involvement. It's the perfect story: a mystery involving the pretty blonde thing and the shady (but cute) boy. It all plays out slowly and dramatically. The media did an excellent job of feeding people information in such a quantity and way that people are constantly hungry for more. That's why we're still hearing about this.

There's nothing pluralistic about discrediting a source because its beliefs don't sit well with you.

The article in that thread is extremely biased, poorly argumented and highly speculative. The site in general is inhabited by rabid neo-nazis who have left behind all pretense of being objective and even fail to give something a fair consideration. Instead, they give canned and unintelligent responses that do not address the problem (I am specifically referring to the remarks about Jews and the 'baboon' remarks). There is nothing, nothing credible about Stormfront.

There's far more amiss in Aruba, and Natalee's disappearence is just another symptom of it.

Can't comment on the state of Aruba - I've never been there and don't know enough about it.
