Oh yea? Says who? Even Gaga's last album beat Teenage Dream in sales (better sales internationally). And Katy is fading as far as the radio is concerned... don't hear that much anymore. One Direction I hear more now.



Spoken like a die hard Katy Perry fan. Tad bit of wishful thinking on your part I think.

Anyways this has been interesting. Defending an artist who I've only seen twice... and being called a "die hard" fan.. lol... when I don't even listen to pop most of the time.

LOL its because she has practically released her whole album as singles and after her 8th straight single, which by the way is doing very well in the charts, she has decided to take some time off.

Wait so you take offense when they call you a diehard fan since you have only seen her twice but you call me one yet I have never been to her concert...I love it

Taylor Swift who? Well...Taylor is younger, prettier, more successful than Lady Gaga plus her last album actually sold 1m+ and did I mention she is only 22..wow

Again, that's the last line of defense a Katy Perry fan has. Very little money made off her album actually goes back to her. Music artists make most of their money on tours and that's where Gaga has cleaned up time and time again. Katy Perry isn't as popular internationally, and certainly not even so in Asia (where her last album did quite poorly actually).

Taylor is none of those (and again has nothing internationally). Just a country music star that will have her time of fame for a year. I mean even One Direction is more popular then she is. Swift simply isn't more successful then Gaga... that's another lie. But hey keep it up.

If you want to talk numbers, Gaga wins on that one.

And why is it you only respond to select portions of my post? Is that how it goes around here? Most of what I listen to is considered "Latin rap" (reggaeton). Pretty excited by J LO featuring in Wisin & Yandel's new album...

Taylor is more successful than Lady Gaga. Look at what Taylor has accomplish at such a young age all while being, according to you, just a "country singer". Her last album sold 1m+ its first week and is still selling.

OK, she make be an OK pianist and aerobics dancer but she is an international corporation with a staff of hundreds of contract workers, scriptwriters, marketeers, psychologists, voice coaches, auto tuners, seamstresses, tax agents, internet developers, more marketeers etc, etc, etc who tells her what to dress, say, sing, think etc.etc

Taylor isn't more successful then Lady Gaga. That's a nice try though. Her album did NOT do well internationally, barring England and Australia. By the way, Swift emerged earlier then Gaga did. I guess historical revisionism is your favorite thing. Even Gaga's last album had more sales in total (incl/ international sales) then Swift's last album.

Look at it this way, come with some numbers, or you don't have a case.

Oh and as long as we are talking about top artists, Gaga is probably 7 or 8th for me... in my own favorites. Some of the music I listen to is underground... so I don't equate quality = quantity.

So its Taylors fault that she had the talent to become famous at 16?...Sorry that had me laughing really hard..lol
Her last Album has sold twice the amount of BTW in the U.S. She was ranked at # 15 in Billboards Top 20 Hot 100 Songwriters 2000–2011 and thats with only three albums out. Plus how many Grammys and awards does she already have?

Anyways, people say the same thing for any artist who is constantly in the spotlight and suddenly falls out of the spotlight. It's not because she is failing the charts, its not that people like her less, its just that we see her less. Lady Gaga is still quite relevant IMO. She's just not promoting an album or a single at the moment where as Rihanna and Katy are. Once Gaga starts promoting new things, it will be highly anticipated once again. Willl she top her debut album? Only time will tell. But if Madonna and Cher can have a long career...there is no doubt in my mind that Gaga will prevail. #TAGShrugs

Popularity contest? LOL. Two of my favorite artists were underground till a few years ago... it's not about popularity for me. Quality > Quantity. But I'll state the facts for you. Swift isn't more successful then Gaga... not even by a stretch of the imagination. Gaga has far more international sway.

I mean who is making this a popularity contest? You go on and on about how Swift is somehow more popular (and facts say she isn't)... hence you're being inconsistent.

Miss Gaga will not be finished until she is good and ready. Saying her fame is dying down is like saying the storm is over because you don't hear the thunder...we've barely reached the eye of the storm.

I'm not a big Gaga fan, she had me at Paparazzi but lost me at Highway Unicorns (or whatever it's called). But I'm sure she along with her crew have a full plan for her over the next decade. She seems to have learned well from the great diva's throughout history and has a schematic to fame that most bitches would slice a baby goat for.

Don't hate on her. It may not be your type of art or desired approach to fame, but the people love her. She clearly has talent, which is all I care about when there are such a vast number of musicians hitting the radio who can't sing or play instruments or do anything really but redo a song that used to be a hit using some fancy computer software.

Of course she'll selling out concerts. But she's not the cultural phenomenon everyone was talking about before.

She got boring to the general public and honestly, I havent heard about her in months and I really don't care.
Fans will continue to love her but the general population is on the next thing.

Well yes, how can you hear from someone who has withdrawn herself from the public? She hasn't released a new song since last year, and she hasn't done any US press in months. In fact, most of her press is coming from her tour - where only fans are likely to know about. Trust, you'll hear all about Lady Gaga when the time for new music comes.

Numerically speaking, absolutely not. Taylor doesn't have the sway Gaga has internationally... doesn't even come close. Look outside the United States please. And even in the US, Gaga has quite an edge.

I listen to artists most people here haven't even heard about.

Yet Taylor is still more accomplish and successful than Lady Gaga.
