Re: What to wear to Lady Gaga concert!

by the way... say what you want about Lady gaga... I'm not a fan of the music..

But she sings live, plays an instrument, writes some of the music and is actually interesting to watch.

Compare her new video which has cool costumes, angles, cinematography... to the new Britney spears video which has a barely-lucid Britney hanging onto a shower curtain while she (poorly) lip syncs to a voice which may or may not be hers.

This here is enough for a singer & performance artist to earn my respect, even if his or her music doesn't interest me.

Re: Lady GaGa - Monster Ball Tour

wow Gaga fell in Montreal twice...not very professional.

People pay good money to come see her and she trips up on herself.

I guess she is spending too much time with that weave whore so falling on stage rubbed off on Gaga.

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

I am so excited (!)

Gaga might get it

Re: Lady GaGa - Monster Ball Tour

From what I've seen on youtube, her tour sucks.

It seems really low budget and not worth attending. I think her bad romance performance sucked. I really liked teeth though and speechless. D: Idk I'm just disappointment I expect a big extravaganza.

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

You said she's an amazing singer. Every live performance on UK TV has been painful to watch due to being completely off key or utterly pretentious. She's working her best avenue: Media whore.

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

i based my opinion solely on her live SNL performance.

No singer is flawless every single time they step on a live stage.

Gaga however blew me away with her vocals on SNL and it made me realize that despite her bad days she does have pipes.

If you're basing it on pone great performance in light of twenty bad ones then they're some great rose tinted glasses.

Re: Lady GaGa - Monster Ball Tour

All good things come to those who wait.

Maybe by march she will learn to stay on her feet.

I prefer Gaga sitting playing the piano like on SNL

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

^^

There is precedent for this.

In 1997 Lauryn Hill not only got nominated for Grammys but she won multiple Grammys with the Fugees.

Then 2 years later in 1999 they gave Lauryn Hill the Grammy for Best new artists over the Dixie Chicks and Backstreet Boys.

So if they really love someone and think they are worthy they do break the rules.

I believe in justice and fair is fair.

Dude you got this all wrong...The GRAMMYS did not break any Rules or set any precedent where Lauryn Hill is concerned....Let me break it down....Yes Lauryn Hill received GRAMMYS with the Fugees..The Fugees were a "Group/Ensemble"....Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean went solo and began their second careers as "Solo Acts"...Lauren QUALIFIED for "Best New Artist" as a "Solo Act" in 99'....

If one of the Jonas Brothers decides to leave the group & go "Solo", drops a Huge CD, then he qualifies for Best New Artist as a "Solo Act"...Here's the deal...Once an Artist is a SOLO-Act he's praying the CD is a Best Seller or Critically acclaimed HIT for "Best New Artist" consideration. If his 1st CD goes unnoticed he shouldnt expect to get Nominated for "Best New Artist" after the 2nd or 3rd CD release...His 1st SOLO CD qualifies him for a "Best New Artist" nomination if the CD is worthy.... But rules are made to be broken..

There was another female artist that was Nominated for a GRAMMY when she had several SOLO-CD's previous years that were "sleepers"...I forget her name but the GRAMMYS bent the rules and nominated her...

Rest Assure...Even though I'm not crazy about Lady Gaga and will probably not buy any of her music, She will get a "Best New Artist" nomination later tonight...The Powers that Be are in her favor....This is her year...

Her name was Shelby Lynne and they did NOT bend the rules.

Yes she had many albums but she was under the radar until 2001 where she emerged.

The official Grammy guidelines are as follows: For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year, the first recording which establishes the public identity of that artist. Note that this is not necessarily the first album released by an artist.

Shelby Lynne established hers in 2001.

Lots of people fell in that category. Sean Paul wasn"t a "new" artist either; but 2004 was his break through year in America so he got recognized.

Also you are incorrect about The group stuff because if that was the case when weave went solo after Destinys Child they would have given it a Best New Artist Nomination, the same with Justin Timberlake and they didnt.

Once you win a Grammy or have been nominated the rules state that you are not eligible for new artist.

However; if they like someone they will bend it case in point Lauryn.

Darious Rucker from "Hootie" didnt get nominated when he went SOLO...Lots of Popular SOLO Artists didnt get nominated for "Best New Artist" when they went SOLO.......That's how it goes...No one is GIVEN anything in Life..The same thing goes for "Weave-Beyonce" & "Chicken-head-wrinkled thighs Rihanna"

Elvis didnt win GRAMMYS and he was the ARTIST with the most #1 singles of his Generation.....Go figure...

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

Also just a note. Lady Gaga already had an album out three years ago (2006). It is called "Red and Blue", and is under her real name Stefani Germanotta.
Just pointing this out because it plays to the "breakthrough year" point. Even though 2006 was when she was actually new, she wasn't really new until 2008-2009 (to the general public).

I don't know anything about Grammy rules myself, I only know what this thread says, lol. But I just thought I'd point that out.

Re: Lady GaGa - Monster Ball Tour

I've seen the concert and I think for a newer artist its great from what I saw. Can't wait to see her in Vegas in a few weeks!!!!

Re: Alejandro- Lady Gaga

It's a lot like ABBA's "Fernando", I guess Gaga was inspired by them, too. I'm addicted to this woman, I really am.

Re: Lady GaGa - Monster Ball Tour

Honestly, falling should be expected I mean look at her heels? We keep forgetting GaGa is still a new artist. Not surprised, she grew on all of us so quickly.

At least she's human, sometimes we forget she is, too... kind of a good thing.

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

I don't care if she doesn't make it in or not, she was nominated for others. I just saw the Best New Artist nominations, it's a complete joke. Keri Hilson? I love her and all but technically she's not much of new artist and has been featured countless times with Timbaland years ago. She's recycled garbage, she needs to own her style I am getting tired of that boy cut highlight streaked bangs pushed to the side hair.

Gaga, you are the best new artist. You know it.

Re: Lady Gaga - Best New Artist???

If you're basing it on pone great performance in light of twenty bad ones then they're some great rose tinted glasses.

I cannot speak on her U.K. performances, but the ones in the U.S. have been great.
