I don't have any evidence, but I can't help but suspect that Gaga is an exploitative individual who is cynically aligning herself with the gay male community is order to ensure her career longevity and to build up a legion of uncritical, unthinking gay male fans who reflexively purchase any second-rate albums she shits out because that's their duty as gay men... artists like Madonna and Kylie have also achieved that status as gay icons, altho for them I think them it evolved in a more natural and organic (and less cynical) way.

I see Madonna clearly doing this and Kylie because lets face it she's a nice person and all but singer she in't God help her. Seriously I'm cynical with most artists, actors etc when they do things but sometimes I feel less talented artists use the Gay community because we are supposed to like camp, cheesy, dance, techno etc oh and of course women. Who here has a male Icon they look up to in the music industry who isn't themselves a Gay man? Why oh why is it always women?

Who here has a male Icon they look up to in the music industry who isn't themselves a Gay man? Why oh why is it always women?

haha, there are plenty of male artists I listen to, but somehow none of them seem like icons. The only male artist (that I listen to) that I would categorize as an icon would be perhaps Morrissey (who is more or less a homosexual).

I love Gaga. She is absolutely amazing but i sometimes feel as if she is doing too much and it can take away from her appeal

ITA with that. I think Born This Way came out so soon after The Fame Monster. I love Gaga, but I'm willing to wait until she "recharges." Instead she's all over the place and I think it's hurt her sound.

Like Born This Way, but I LOVED The Fame Monster.

Anyway, I dig her because she's a great talent and she supports LGBT rights unabashedly. But, I can understand how her ever increasing popularity can be annoying. I really hated all of the hype surrounding the song "Born This Way," especially from Sir Elton John. The song is okay, but it isn't the huge 'most popular gay anthem in history!!!!!' that it was made out to be.

People are free to have their own opinions. While I disagree with them and think it's incredibly childish, and petty, to constantly try finding stuff to make her look bad, I respect their right to do so.
I, personally, don't waste my time on an artist I don't like. Topics concerning someone I don't care about or really dislike are ignored. I just don't care so I don't even bother.

But that's the sign of an interesting artist...Gaga leaves no one indifferent. Weither people talk good or bad about her, at least, they talk about her which is only good so thanks haters and lovers! =)
