Re: ‘What Lady Gaga Can Teach You About Running a Business’

Yeah, well at least big business doesn't ring up millions of $$ in debt then expect Joe Schmoe to bail them out when they..can't...um,...never mind.#-o

Re: ‘What Lady Gaga Can Teach You About Running a Business’

Even though I'm not her biggest fan (much prefer Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, etc.), I don't get the whole Lady GaGa bashing. I also seem to think the gay community in general bashes her more than the non-gay community for some reason.

She's a billionairess with a staff of thousands who preys on the gullibility of our soft-brained teenagers.

Really? I mean really? She's just making music and whoever likes her music buys it. This doesn't mean in any way that everyone buying her music is gullible. She wasn't even music's top money maker in 2011. It was Taylor Swift. There are people out there who appreciate GaGa's lyrics and musical style. If you don't like it, tough shit. She is in no way preying on anyone. What she's doing isn't different from what every other big selling artist out there is doing.

Re: ‘What Lady Gaga Can Teach You About Running a Business’

So do I.

I figure that the only thing Lady Gaga could teach you business-wise, is how to pander as hard as you can to your gay fans in order to get them to come to your shows and buy all your shit.

No. Pandering to a gay audience could potentially do more harm than good. Music wise, gays make up a smaller demographic. Especially when looking American music consumers, choosing to alienate people with gay love does not equate to becoming a cash cow. Gaga has a strong gay following, but by the end of the day Gaga has a strong following in general. So there is no point in claiming how clinging to the gays is going to make her rich. Also, merchandise do not go to the artist - but to the label. So fans can buy as many Gaga t-shirts as they want, but that does not mean Gagaloo is getting any richer from that....

plus she has gone bankrupt three times in the past.

From spending money on her tours, and by the end of the day Gaga earns back more than she lost. Touring is the biggest opportunity for the artist herself to earn money - and it is Lady Gaga.

Anyhow, I would not underestimate Gaga's ability as a business woman. She has not been in the industry for five years and has (at one point) surpassed Oprah (year end).

Re: ‘What Lady Gaga Can Teach You About Running a Business’

As much as I despise the child-tossing horrible sounding "I'm Locked Up" prick, shouldn't it be "What Akon Can Teach you About Running A Business"? Because he's the one that got rich for signing Gaga in the first place.

this. akon is a g. it's crazy how these people come other countries come into america and are able to profit off of our system better than we do.

lady gaga isn't shit and neither are any of these pop artists that make bad music and have a machine behind them brainwashing people into liking their half assed sound.

None of you what you or MoufOfKhoas said makes sense. Do you know how many people get signed to a label? Akon is not responsible for Gaga's financial decisions. Akon is not Gaga's manager. Though, let's say, Gaga + her manager probably deserve near equal acknowledgment on how to run a business. The rest of your post is subjective, and has nothing to do with the fact that Gaga has established herself well enough to surpass Akon.

Highlight where I said he was.

"As much as I despise the child-tossing horrible sounding "I'm Locked Up" prick, shouldn't it be "What Akon Can Teach you About Running A Business"? Because he's the one that got rich for signing Gaga in the first place."

You negate Gaga's ability as a businesswoman by claiming Akon should take responsibility for her financial wits. Akon may oversee Gaga, but Gaga's profit for herself has made it so that she is practically her own business. Sure, Akon is making money off her, but she's making a great deal for her.

like others have said, being that lady gaga has gone bankrupt three times and is known to have issues with managing her money, that in itself discredits your statement.

Gaga went bankrupt because she used her own money to support her tour, but she made the money right back. She might as well have lost nothing. She actually moved up on Forbes power list, not down.

Lady Gaga wears the crown of FORBES 2011 Most Powerful Celebrity, and it's a title she's made good on both in dollar signs and massive constituency. She raked in $90 over the past year. In July, Gaga (born Stefanie Germanotta) became the first Twitter user to reach 12 million followers, trumping teen dream Justin Bieber and President Obama. Her Facebook page has 36 million fans. Beyonce has called her "the most talented pop star." In the past three months she has begun promotional deals with Google, Zynga and Gilt and is a not-so-silent financial backer in Backplane, a Silicon Valley start-up founded by her longtime manager Troy Carter. The sales of Gaga-endorsed MAC's VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipgloss have raised more than $202 million to fight HIV and AIDS

Gaga instantly sells out another huge Stadium in Europe + More London shows added due to high demand
hTuZY.jpg
State de France in Paris is the biggest stadium in France and 6th largest in Europe, just behind Twickenham. The max capacity is 80,000 people. Tickets for Lady Gaga's highly anticipated ''Born This Way Ball Tour'' went on sale and less than 3 hours they were completely sold out. After a hysterical rush this morning, tickets were snapped-up within minutes as fans flocked to the Internet to secure their place at the long-awaited shows.

After selling out the 82,000 sea Twickenham Stadium in London within minutes the other day, another show was added at the same venue on September 9th. Tickets go on sale April 20th at 9AM.

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

Lady Gaga (Almost) Breaks a Record at Her Korean Born This Way Tour

Togged out in Versace and Armani Couture, Lady Gaga performed for the first time in Korea last night at her Born This Way Tour and in her own words, she had the second biggest fan turn-out in the history of concerts in Korea.

She tweeted a little while ago:
gaga7.jpg

And this comes after thousands of devout Protestant Christians in South Korea gathered to pray that her gig would be cancelled because - they claim – the star promotes homosexuality and pornography.

Well, someone up there didn’t seem to hear their prayers this time around!

Trivia: Who racked up the highest number of fans at a concert in Korea? The one and only - MICHAEL JACKSON!

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

She is coming to Singapore too! but sadly I am unable to attend.

She suppose to have 1 show here but tix went up in flames when it started selling so they had to add 1 more show and then second show was sold out too and so they added third show and we have 3 shows here. :D

Re: The Official LADY GAGA Mega-thread

Rob Fusari came through and leaked one of the early songs he and Gaga created together. The song is titled "Reel Cool", which I believe is how Fusari decided to title it after Gaga had already registered the song under the name "Real Cool". In the video he released, he and Gaga are shown at a meeting presenting the demo. It's a nice glimpse of early Gaga and where she was coming from musically, how the sound evolved.
