Are you annoyed by constant announcement of "land acknowledgement"
of traditional owners for every event or speech ??

I am because it is time wasting.
Why not let history be history and put them in history book or museum of what really happened and keep it there ?

How about you ?

Why be annoyed.

It has actually helped people who are living on the land stolen from aboriginal peoples to reconnect with the history of their area.

And that can only be a good thing.

It is a little ironic that while you have so much time to sit through long, stunningly dull youtube videos wouldn't have the patience for a short intro line:D

No, I am not annoyed and as an immigrant yourself, you should show some courtesy.

I am more education from Youtube than on jub
Jub becomes ONLY for Trump talk and NOTHING ELSE.

Example:

We should try that in the USA. I'm appalled when I consider how Oklahoma - "Indian Territory" - was "settled." "Unassigned lands," indeed. Hah.

It would be interesting to see how that principle might be applied in Europe, the Levant, Russia, Africa, South America, and elsewhere. It sounds like it would get tedious. Every land was taken from someone at some time.

What was done to the Native Americans is an undying shame to the Europeans who did it, but, unless we're actually going to DO something about it, bemoaning it doesn't accomplish too much.

Instead of "land acknowledgement" in every speech (becomes meaningless if they keep doing it, example "death to America" becomes meaningless" they should help to improve the lives of the native.

It actually may help native populations.

In addition to a mark of respect for those who managed to live off the land without completely trashing it, it can also help keep awareness of aboriginal peoples' issues, many of which are still the result of colonial policies and practises in the public consciousness.

I would agree though, that at some point, if it isn't backed up by a real partnership with aboriginal communities, it does become something that smacks of smug white people looking for the cheapest absolution possible.

I might add one more thing. In Canada, it is also seen as an act that is intended to send a message out around the world, including to China, which seems intent on erasing the aboriginal minorities in the regions it has occupied.

Since the mod has to approve each post,
why not change the errors as well ? ;)
That's why the great spirit in the sky created spell-check and grammar-check.
