I think even if you drop this from the Empire State Building it wouldn't break.

The con, of course, is that it's hideous.

I've always been partial to Toshiba; they just work and work and work. However, with the current Vista debacle, I'm now convinced that my next one will be a Mac.

MacBook Pros are very nicely built machines, and quite durable. Standard MacBooks are pretty plastic - I wouldn't recommend them. I've had good experiences with higher-end Sony Vaio machines. I wouldn't recommend Dell for reliability or longevity.

If I were you, I'd buy a MacBook Pro, a rubber case, and a bunch of toys (so you don't get bored).

Never buy HP. They have recalls coming our of their asses. One time my screen just went blank.

Personally my feelings are, "Once you go Mac, You'll look turn back". I concur that the MacBook Pro would be an excellent choice. I have both an iMac and MacBook for years. To be truthful, I have everything Mac, all the way down to my cellphone. I find that Macs are very durable and are easy to add to, in regards to memory. Also when looking to increase the durability of your MacBook, there is a wide variety of snap-on cases. Though if you are adamant about remaining a PC man, I have heard positive experiences with Sony product. I, however, cringe when I have to use Windows Vista. Good luck with finding the computer that best suits you!

The laptops that I would recommend for durability...

  • Well Panasonic dose go to the top, I think those will last longer then a cockroach... The price/ performance ratio though, isn't too good.
  • IBM/Lenovo are a good second for durability, for both business or home use.
  • Toshiba's are good, I still have a Portege 3500 from 2002 that still works great.
  • Apple makes very good computers, just install Vista/W7 on it if that is what's keeping you from going apple. Boot Camp is your friend.

Those are my picks for durability, but for all around best bang for the buck and durability, IBM/Lenovo's would be what I would recommend if you want something that will last for quite some time. a recommended laptop from them would be the T series.

Im defently only looking for a Windows Vista or Windows 7 Beta one(Which by the way is awesome).

Agree. :D

So I'm looking for a laptop that is made to last. Anyone know of any that are made to with stand a very clumsy user! As you can tell my laptops in bad condition because I always drop it and pick at it when bored.

So any makes or laptops that are made to be pretty strong???

Well, you could get a Panasonic Toughbook, but that's probably overkill. They weigh a lot and are rather clunky.

I very strongly recommend a Lenovo ThinkPad. They're built very well, and the best part is they have an accelerometer inside that detects shocks to the laptop body (like if you dropped it) and parks the hard drive so it isn't damaged.

I have been a ThinkPad owner for 6 years now, and I love them.

Bought the Macbook Pro last week actually: great design, power, everything.

I am in love. :)
