Hi Everyone,
Since so many in this forum are relatively new to JUB and posting, I thought it would be helpful to alert you to a handy function on these boards that is available to you: The Comment System (or Reputation (Rep) System as it's sometimes called).
If you want to leave a comment for a poster privately, you can send them a Private Message (PM), or, more easily, just send them a brief comment on a post about which you want to comment. People sometimes leave comments for you, and it's easy to view the comments others have made.
First, to leave a comment, go down to the lower left-hand corner of the posting box, under the poster's signature block (see photo). Press the second icon that looks like a file card.
Up will pop a dialogue screen, with a space for you to type your comment. Space is limited, but will accommodate about 2-3 sentences. Then, press send.
Please note: The recipient will not only see your comment, but you will be identified as the sender. This is NOT anonymous and there's no way to make it so. While you can see your comments received, you cannot see other poster's. Only moderators and administrators can see (and edit) other's comments. Also, you are only allowed one comment per post.
To see comments that others have left for you, go up to the menu bar at the top of your JUB screen and press "My Settings" (again, refer to the photo). Once pressed, any comments left for you will appear, along with the title of the thread highlighted which, when pressed, takes you back immediately to your post that is being commented on. In addition, the comment-maker's name is highlighted in case you would like to follow up by PM. There is no way to directly comment back on a comment.
The comment system is a quick way to send a brief message to a poster. Please note, though, that the same rules of decorum that apply to the open boards apply to both Rep Comments and PM's. Thus, please be nice.
