LeBron James Interested In 'Buying' $50 Million Miami Mansion

By Dr. Boyce Watkins, PhD on Jul 16th 2010 10:50AM

LeBron James' home in Akron, Ohio, definitely embodies the life of the rich and famous. According to an interview he did with Jimmy Kimmel, it has an ATM, a bowling alley, a barber shop, a casino and a Starbucks in it. I never knew someone could have a Starbucks in their own home, but then again, the company seems to have locations everywhere.

Since LeBron James is moving to Miami, though, he has to find a new home, and the residence that is said to have caught his eye is a $49.8 million mega-mansion, the most expensive house in Coral Gables, Fla. The home was owned, at one point, by former coach and current General Manager of the Miami Heat Pat Riley.

Life & Style Magazine is reporting that the deal is as good as done. The house was apparently taken off the market as soon as LeBron announced that he was coming to Miami, which observers say is no coincidence. The 20,800-square-foot house has a full gym, eight bedrooms, a full basketball court and a 12-camera security system, along with all the other bells and whistles you'd expect from a house that costs nearly $50 million. You can see some of the pictures below:

In light of the fact that LeBron's current contract with the Heat is worth $110 million, the home is certainly not out of his price range. Also, even though it is known that LeBron gave up roughly $30 million in order to sign with the same team as Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, he is likely going to make back most of this money in endorsements that come from playing for a better team in a larger market. It must feel good to be LeBron right about now!

Why not keep Starbucks Coffee stored in the pantry and let your Housekeeper prepare it whenever you want it? Wouldn't that be cheaper than adding a Freaking Starbucks-wing to your mansion? Then again if LaBron's Management team employs a staff to work the StarBucks, Barber shop & Casino this helps the local economy...

What in the world does he plan to build inside his $50-Million dollar crib in Miami? And who is gonna buy his "Mini-Las Vegas" crib back in Ohio?..........

He'll probably keep his Ohio home since that is where he is from. If I were him I'd rent that place instead of buying it. Sounds overpriced given the market.

You're probably right...i didnt think about that...He doesnt have to sell his Compound in Ohio..With all his money he can keep it...

An ocean front mansion is the Shit if you got the money to buy one...Remember those 5 pics is just a tid-bit of the estate...We didn't see pictures of the Guest house or staff quarters...The Sky-Cam is proof enough that the estate is beyond HUGE...

What I find interesting is that LeBron is spending money the same way Oprah is spending hers..Oprah's most expensive home is in California valued @ $50 million....Now Oprah is worth over $1-Billion and brings home over $300-million a year...So she can drop $50 million on one Crib & can call it a day...

LeBron is not making $100 million a year...That amount is stretched out into years...Yeah, he can get his hustle on & make it back through endorsements but I hope he has a team of wise financial Advisors..

Look at what happened to Nickolas Cage...He's had several Block-Buster Flicks over the last 10yrs...."National Treasure" really brought home the Bacon.....He's taking home $25 - 30 Million plus a picture..And he was going out purchasing homes all over the place...He even bought a Damn castle...Now he's blaming his accountant for his money troubles and his accountant says Nick spends more than he brings in...

Let's hope LeBron's advisors are smart, use common sense and know how to say "No" to the Boss when it comes to making CRAZY purchases that could hurt his wallet...

He'll be in prison within a few years

You're confusing Basketball and Football......BasketBall Super-Stars don't have a history of going to Prison..As long as they're getting enough Pussy on & off the road they pretty much stay too busy to end up behind bars...

He's confusing himself with racism.

This is disappointing to see another young black man wasting his new found riches on stupid toys ala Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, and others. Part of the reason why black wealth is not perpetuated through the generations and we have to keep starting from scratch over and over again.

I don't understand what it means to have a Starbucks in your home.

Is it a staffed store?

Is it a deluxe coffee area with a top of the line espresso machine?

Yikes! Look at what he wore for that interview with Jimmy K. There won't be any rumors about his being gay, that's for sure!

imagine the realtors commish....woweeeeeeee

In other news, the average high school teacher makes about $42k a year.

Precisely. Nobody does pro sports because the love the sport any more. They love the ridiculous pay cheque that comes along with it. I read recently about some guy making millions of dollars one year and didn't play for a single second. He 'sat on the bench' for the entire season. Wish I had a job like that.
