Leno moves back to 11:30! Conan out?

Jay barely made a mention of this on his show tonight.

I hope Conan has something really shitty to say, LoL.

Conan is the big winner as he gets plenty of money over the breach of contract with NBC. Did I hear right, that NBC may owe him as much as 80 million for the contract? Whatever it is it has to be grand.

 Conan's PISSED.

Uhh. . .I really haven't heard anything like that. From what I HAVE been hearing, Conan disagreed with the new timeslot and they don't owe him anything.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I don't know what they owe him. I know they have to buy him out with alot of money but seeing as his dream was given to him and then snatched from his hands I really wouldn't consider him a winner.

Conan was great tonight. So many digs at NBC. Bravo, Mr. O'Brien!

If Conan just walks and doesnt go to another network, NBC has to pay him what is left on the contract....Conan can sit at home and do nothing. If he goes to another network, NBC just owes him for the years he stayed at NBC, as the new network would pay off the rest of the deal, or something to that affect....either way he makes out well...

Tonight was really rare. You had CONAN, LETTERMAN, JIMMY KIMMEL AND FURGESON ALL bashing Leno(Conan to a lesser degree)..I hope Leno comes out looking bad in this...

I've never been a fan of any of them (Leno, Letterman, O'Brien), really, and, of the three, I disliked Conan the most. I simply did not like his style of humour.

However, nobody deserves to be treated the way NBC has treated him, and I feel badly for him. I can only wish him the best of luck in the future and I hope this entire situation makes NBC realise they cannot treat their employees like pieces of furniture.

I loved the interview with Tom Brokaw last night. Lots of pokes at NBC.

I wonder if there's bad blood between Leno and Brokaw. If I recall, Brokaw was on one of the first Letterman shows on CBS, making fun of NBC's attempt to stop Letterman from doing the "Top Ten" lists. The gag was that Brokaw stormed onto the stage and grabbed the papers out of Letterman's hands, saying "this is the intellectual property of NBC!"

It's all very similar to the late night 'wars' in the early 90s. I think there is a HBO movie about it....with Kathy Bates.

I used to like Jay, but he's quickly becoming less popular with me. He's treating Conan like shit. Yes he, not just NBC. Jay chose to leave the tonight show and give it Conan. He chose to go to prime time. His new showed failed. So he should just exit stage left gracefully, retire or something. He should just not pursue going back to 11:30 and leave Conan alone. Really, Jay is being a sore loser. I see right through him, no matter how much he "blames" NBC. It's still Jay's choice.

Conan does need to go because his ratings are sinking more every day. NBC wants to replace Conan because the experiment to attract new and younger viewers to the Tonight Show failed. Leno's ratings in that time slot were the highest.

Leno had a stronger lead in then Conan ever did. It's never been late night's job to attract an audience but to retain the audience from prime time. Leno bombed miserably and never gave Conan a decent lead in. NBC news affliates have also seen a substantial down tick in ratings http://blogs.buffalonews.com/talkintv/2009/11/the-leno-effect-sweeping-channel-2-at-11.html

The fact of the matter is quite simply Jay knew this show was a huge risk as did NBC. They took it. They lost. Now they're crying about it. You can't have your cake and eat it to. And just how long is Leno going to be back on The Tonight Show for? How many more years until he quits again? It was NBC's stupid choice to bring him back and I guess they're allowed to but Leno should've had enough class to say no.

The validity of this rumor is questionable, but:

Now Leno May Walk Away From NBC Too

http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2010/01/leno-is-a-lying-sack-of-crap

Assuming this is true, this is looking VERY bad for Leno and a lot of people are starting to hate him (well, online at least) for now only screwing Conan out of The Tonight Show, but for ruining the lead-in ratings for TTS and Late Night. This may create a huge backlash.

What do you think?

Leno and NBC Strike 1 Hour 'Tonight' Deal

0114_jay_tonight_ex_tmz_01.jpg

Jay Leno has made a new deal with NBC, which gives him "The Tonight Show" from 11:35 - 12:35 ... sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported, under the contract Jay had been working under, he was guaranteed the 10 PM hour. By moving him to 11:35, NBC was in breach of his contract and needed to negotiate a new deal. That is now done, sources tell TMZ.

So Conan O'Brien is out, and Jay is restored.

You are misinformed. I suggest googling or reading real news to learn the real history of how all this unfolded. All the night shows following Leno, including the local evening news, are sinking because of Leno. Nobody is watching Leno, so there is no lead into the later shows. Conan hosting the Tonight show was not an "experiment." NBC had planned to put Conan in the Tonight Show over 5 years ago. NBC's real experiment was to put a late night talk show on earlier in the evening with Leno. That is the experiment that failed.

NBC blows. I hope not a damn soul watches Jay. I know I won't be tuning in.

After all these years I can't imagine how betrayed Conan must feel. That's the name of the game, I guess.

whats sad is that when the let conan out of his contract the rumor is that it will include a "non-compete" clause meaning he cant return to late night for 3 years. its sad cause its not just conan but the ENTIRE tonight show staff that uprooted and moved coasts.

also-- with NBC ordering power pilots from jerry bruckhiemer, jj abrams, and david kelly-- they probably will go up in the ratings in the fall-- which will be a much better lead-in for the tonight show with JAY than JAY ever provided conan.

did anyone else watch jimmy kimmel POUND jay last night on his own show? HILARIOUS! called jay out on his shit!

My favorite part hands down was when Jimmy said: "The best prank I ever pulled was I told a guy that—five years from now—I'm gonna give you my show. And then when the five years came, I gave it to him, and then I took it back almost instantly." That was such epic PWNAGE if I've ever seen it. GO JIMMY!

It was great watching Kimmel rip Leno a new ass on his own show. Jay obviously didn't plan for this. Kimmel was booked on the show before all this crap started last week.

I'm only watching Leno right now just to watch his downfall. After he goes back to the Tonight Show, I will switch over to Letterman. As for Coco, I hope someday he lands a position that puts Leno to shame. Leno's conscience (does he have one?) will eternally eat at him. Weird, I liked Leno a couple weeks ago, things can change so fast.
