Leno moves back to 11:30! Conan out?

I don't have a link to the clip....but the other nite Leno talked about this fiasco. He said in part...."Conan's not the bad guy in all this, so don't blame him...."

Um, trust us Jay.....WE"RE NOT!

Both of them aren't funny imo. I prefer Jay cause the format of his tonight show was better than conan or letterman.

Letterman is BASHING Jay more because The Late Johnny Carson chose Leno to HOST "The Tonight Show" over Dave...Their Fued is Legendary and will never end because of Dave's bitterness...

Jay Leno did not walk out on the "Tonight Show"..It was never his intention to "retire" or simply give the show to ANY other person.....The Powers that be forced him out and made the 10pm deal to keep him from going to ABC or FOX...

The ONLY person at fault here is The President of NBC Entertainment..The Guy needs to be fired after the dust settles...

Jay has always been the most Respected host and he'll go back to being #1 in the ratings when he returns...

carson chose letterman. he wanted letterman to take over his show. the execs chose leno. they went against what carson wanted.

Leno has won..Conan gets $30-million for his troubles...Everybody is Happy...

Now let's see if Conan will survive on another Network in the Fall..

Everybody is Happy...
Except millions of Conan fans. And I wouldn't bet that Conan is happy. He loves the Tonight Show as much as Leno. Having something taken away from you that you fairly earned doesn't exactly make someone happy. And compared to Leno's early days, the ratings were just fine. It's just that NBC is cheap, greedy, and impatient and expect to be #1 in late night. I wonder why they are not as passionate about all their other crappy programming. When Leno returns, ratings may increase a little, but I think too much damage has been done to Leno's image where it will never return to where it once was.

Ummm except maybe the rest of Conan's crew who uprooted their lives and moved across the country and will not be getting any hefty severance for their troubles.

If people are now turned off by Leno and his actions (like I am, though I never liked him much to begin with) and his ratings fall when he returns to The Tonight Show, how quickly do you think NBC is going to beg Conan to come BACK to the show! LOL....
I truly think that Leno's new ratings will suck, and many Hollywood stars will refuse to appear on his show. Many have already canceled their appearances on Leno the past couple of weeks.

I like Conan and Leno and Letterman and even Jimmy Kimble and Craig Ferguson, but I can't watch Jimmy Falon, the couple times I caught his late show I was embarrassed for him!
He doesn't have the "right stuff" to be carrying a show in my opinion. He's good at sketch comedy and in the movie Almost Famous he was okay.

I think Dave Letterman has the most integrity of the lot.

So Conan sealed the deal today and officially has his last show tomorrow. What is interesting about his settlement is that it includes a non-disparagement clause where he can't say anything bad about NBC after his show ends and until Sept. 1 when he is free to go on another network. By NBC including the non-disparagement clause, they are admitting that they know they are scum and gave Conan a raw deal. If they thought they treated him well, then they wouldn't need to be afraid of him saying bad things about them.

Hard to imagine anyone under 80 being interested in Leno...

Some people under & over 80 still like to Fuck...So go figure...

Conan doesnt need your tears & anger...He'll need your support when he moves to another Network..Will you support him in the Fall?

That was a fantastic final show...CoCo totally had me in tears with his final little speach there and the performance with Will Ferrel, ZZ Top, Beck, Ben Harper and Max Weinberg 7 and Conan was amazing

also Jimmy Fallon's opening just now was great too

I just watched the last part of Conan's last show. If you want an example of true grace and class, you need go no further. Conan was an example to us all.

I could have done without the "Free Bird" rendition at the end. But Will Farrell isn't exactly a "singer" I like listening to!

Ummm except maybe the rest of Conan's crew who uprooted their lives and moved across the country and will not be getting any hefty severance for their troubles.

Speaking of class, I understand that Conan is supplementing his crew's severance package out of his own pocket, because he didn't think it was good enough.

I've never been a fan of Conan, but I have to say I sure admire the way he's handled himself in this situation.

Well now that's over with, I'm officially now going to be a Letterman viewer. I just can't go back to watching Leno without cringing.

Classy ending. (Not the 'Freebird' rendition, it sucked.)

From a guy that started off writing for 'The Simpsons' (for Scale) and ended up with a 30-45 million dollar severance check:

He asked his viewers not to be cynical.
"I hate cynicism," he said. "It's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Not many 'Celebrities' today would be big enough to say something like that.

Great final speech. Although he didn't quite end the show as I would have if I were in his shoes. Maybe that's because I never liked Neil Young or Lynyrd Skynyrd (and thus, have always hated the song Freebird.) Given that his audience leans on the younger side, I wouldn't think these things would appeal to them much either. I was a bit disappointed that Howard Stern didn't appear (there was speculation that he might; he was asked.) Great to see that Tom Hanks is a big Coco fan.

But, it was Conan's show and he ended it as he wished. What matters is that it won't be long before he is back, so it wasn't really goodbye.

I'm a big Conan fan, and I hate Leno. With that being said: I really don't think actors would be able to actually protest being on THE TONIGHT SHOW; Their contracts with the studios make them agree to promoting the project however the studio sees fit, and if they say "You're going on the Tonight Show next week", they're obligated to do it. Now, that doesn't mean that they can't go on wearing a "iSi, Conando!" t-shirt, or they can't constantly roast Leno in-between promoting their movie.

You're saying, young or old alike, if you watch Leno you're fucked? I would tend to agree.

Not to mention the fact that kindness is not exactly a virtue you hear made much of these days. I'm a kind person, and if anything people diss me for that. But I really loved that comment. He had a chance to say something that would be remembered for a long time, and he used it to great advantage and for the good of others.

True true, but there's a long-standing joke about people in rock concert audiences yelling "play 'Freebird'!" This even if it's a group that never, ever would. So I think the reference was to that, and Conan's fans would at least recognize the song.

Also: direct reference to Conan's freedom. They could have put a gospel choir up there to sing "Free at Last," but then Conan couldn't have gone out playing electric guitar! ;)

Great to see that Tom Hanks is a big Coco fan.

It seemed like they were saying he's the one who invented calling Conan Coco. But at any rate, Tom Hanks is probably the nicest guy in Hollywood...maybe in the country.

But, it was Conan's show and he ended it as he wished. What matters is that it won't be long before he is back, so it wasn't really goodbye.

You mean after Leno tanks on his return? I wouldn't count on it. The leadin is everything. Leno will have drama for a leadin, which works, while Conan's leadin was...Leno.

I cannot STAND Will Ferrel, so the cowbell thing made me roll my fucking eyes.

But the rest of the show... stellar way to go out.

Agreed on both counts, though I suspect Conan may have helped write the famous sketch where Christopher Walken keeps asking for more cowbell. You know, back when SNL was actually funny (but that's before most JUBers were even born, so never mind).
