Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Grammys here we come.

I thought Leona was a shoe in to win Best New Artist but Duffy is real and tough competition so we will see who triumphs next year.

Most recently winning two World Music Awards!

Over Rihanna but its all good, Rihanna won 4 WMAs last year inclusive of Female Entertainer of the year and Worlds Best Selling Pop Female Artist.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

What a complete and utter shock, my jaw was on the floor.

It was supposed to be a 2 way race between Leona and Duffy for Best New Artist

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

I think Leona deserves whatever Grammy's she receives. I think she has got a lot more stage presence than she used to, and don't think it is fair for a talent such as her to miss out on awards because she is a bit bland off of the stage.
Beautiful voice - her live performance of 'Run' on the X Factor showed me that she had improved.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Leona lacks personality so i wonder if they held that against her.

Especially with Clive Davis and Simon Cowell in her camp i thought she had the nomination in the bag.

If is was based on vocal prowess alone she was def at the top of the feild this year.

So sad she was groomed to be a best new artist winner but to not even get nominated must suck.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Perhaps they did, but she didn't win a Brit award either and I was absolutely furious - they gave it to Kate Nash instead.
Simon Cowell was also furious, especially after what Leona has done for the credibility of British artists.
But yes, she would win if it was based on vocal prowess. I just hope she wins one so that she isn't disheartened.
(I believe it would be impossible since her music is doing really well) How did 'Forgive Me' do in the American Charts? It didn't really do very well here.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Well it wouldnt have done well there.

They made Forgive Me for the American version of Spirit.

Oops comes back five minutes later. It actually charted at 5 in the UK and did well in Europe.

It never charted in America. So thats funny. They made it for American audiences but it did better in Europe.

In the video they tried to make her dance but it wasnt pretty lol.

They tried to make Whitney a dance artist too in the beginning but that didnt work so they decided to just focus on the voice and thats what i think Leona will eventually do.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Well I personally love the song and think it deserved higher than No. 5. I was certain it would be No.1 so I think I was just disappointed.

I can't believe it didn't chart in America! I do find it very surprising.

And yes I didn't mind some of the dancing but unless she gets some proper lessons they should just focus on that, because to me, she doesn't need anything else. In the video she didn't really dance and I didn't really like the video either - reminded me of an old Christina Aguilera video.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

'Forgive Me' was never released in the United States. That's why it didn't chart here.

I'm super shocked and pissed she wasn't nominated for Best New Artist! It's like the one of the biggest fuckups that Grammy people have made. Well, then again. Alicia didn't get any nominations I believe and that's just fucked up.

Well, at least Leona can be happy with the fact that 'Run' has officially become the fastest selling digital download ever in England!

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Yeah, I hope she is happy - and considering how gratitious she usually is she probably will be. And two nominations is nothing to scoff at either.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

'Run' has become so huge it's not funny! The popularity of it is massive. And it's still massive. They are saying that she will most likely be the Christmas Number 1 this year!

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

I love her version of the song though, so much more than the original. If it makrs christmas number 1 over the x factor winner I will be majorly surprised. I've already bought the song on iTunes but I didn't realise it was getting a single release otherwise I would have waited.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

I've bought the mp3 through Amazon and I also plan on buying the single.

With a physical release and the performance on the Royal Performance show, I'm thinking it's pretty much a done deal that she'll be Christmas Number 1!

3rd Leona Lewis Single For USA?

I know she's had tons in the UK so far.. but only 2 here in the USA... any news?

Re: 3rd Leona Lewis Single For USA?

Chances are it'l be run, they won't waste a video on one territory alone.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Well the X Factor winner did get the Christmas Number 1 and Leona came in second. But even after almost a month of release, it's still in the Top 2! Which is great!

The next single is 'I Will Be' and a video will be released this month. It features Chace Crawford.

Re: Introducing Leona Lewis

Well I read that she had confirmed the next album was going to go in a more pop/rock direction - so I guess 'Run' and 'I Will Be' are the lead up to that?
