Liberal Convention Kicks Off

Yes yes, I for some reason shamelessly swallow Liberal propaganda.

Here Ignatieff explains that at the time he wanted to help those suffering under Saddam, but then says that the move to support the war was impulsive and that he hopes that given the weight of the PMO, he would have done exactly what Chretien did.

Thankfully, Chretien was in office, and we got that glorious sound bite "No, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven." Chretien was totally badass.

Black and white, eh? You're either for us or against us.

My supporting a party's particular policies without question or the Bush bum-kissing by Ignatieff because of his own political agenda at Haaavard means I'm a Frum fascist?

How very automaton.

I was just making a snide comment about neo-con, neo-liberal neo-whatever Canadians who come to the US and urge the US to go kill people in the name of the West so they can live out their militaristic fantasies in a way that they can't back in Canada. Unfortunately, the US gets a fair helping of those sorts from all over the world, not just Canada.

Anyway, for Canada's sake, I hope Ignatieff works out for you guys and his natural tendency toward sanctimonious militarism has been sufficiently curbed so he does not bring shame to Canada.

well, not that the last few months haven't been interesting, but having the liberals in power would REALLY make things interesting once again.

As a Québec independantist, it's almost a wish to see them back in power. Independance has never done as well as when the liberals are in power :)
havent heard you fellas refer to yourselves as "independantists". What's wrong with seperatist or sovereigntists? Support is in the gutter so you change it up a bit?

Support for Québec independance is still in the same range as it's been for quite a while. You can predict doom and gloom all you want, your father was probably doing the same in the 70's. Nothing we haven't heard before.

As for the choice of how to refer to ourselves (well first of all, i only speak for myself), does it matter really? I think it's pretty clear what i am. If people are too dumb to understand that whether i refer to myself as "souverainiste", "séparatiste" or "indépendantiste", that i'd vote OUI next time, then their loss.

If you are a separatist then why do you even care about a federal political party?

because for right now, Québec is still a part of Canada.

The decisions that are taken in Ottawa affect us, just like it affects the rest of the country.

IF we could decide everything for ourselves, then no, it wouldn't matter what goes on in Ottawa, but that's not the case right now. That's what we strive for.. to be able to control all our ressources, money, and decisions. I don't believe that for a big country like Canada, that centralizing everything in Ontario works.
