Is moving so quickly right now! Sometimes I have to wonder where the day has gone, as it just seems like I woke up and I look at the clock and it's 4:30 in the afternoon. A peer and I were talking today and couldn't believe the first quarter is over in 2 weeks -it seems like school just started last week!
I've been in the principal's office quite a bit the last week and have had some interesting news. The BoE (Board of Education) is voting to introduce Building Chairs for each core discipline within the middle school. My principal wants me to chair our math program -actually, the curriculum coordinator for the district wants it...
We're also starting the AVID program at the middle schools this year and I've been asked to be one of the teacher leaders on it. This makes perfect sense because I am also one of the advanced placement teachers. AVID is a program designed to help borderline students succeed and improve their chances of going to college. Thirty students will go thru an application process and be selected to participate each year. It's a great college prep program. It also means several weeklong trips -one to Wichita (November), and the other to San Diego (July). I'm excited and look forward to this new adventure.
Okay, time to go see if I can fix the washer...
