Life With No Purpose

I need something bigger than a moment. I wish everything you said could make me happy, but to me it sounds like ignoring a problem.

He is quite right in emphasising the small moments in life as it is these that make life enjoyable. Obviously if you wanted to publish a book of your photos this would be a purpose requiring a great deal of effort. But it will still be the small moments in life that make you happy.

Oh those buttock-clenching moments of running downstairs for the tp!

Why can't you bartend forever?

Those drinks aren't going to mix themselves.

My ankles and knees are not going to last forever. I feel pain after three high volume nights. I enjoy the place I work now, but it's not reasonable to think I'll be able to do it into my 40s.

I enjoy the small moments. I've chatted about how I explore the city I love almost every day, I'm always at museums, art galleries, I'm very social and outgoing and have great times with friends.

But I want actual substance to add to that. I feel I have none.

Social and outgoing and as shallow as a puddle in New York. Take a number, pal!

I think the substance is right in front of your eyes which you don't see. "I enjoy the small moments. I've chatted about how I explore the city I love almost every day, I'm always at museums, art galleries, I'm very social and outgoing and have great times with friends."

Now that is substance.

^But it's not, though. It's day to day distraction that doesn't move me further. It's not an accomplishment. When I ask folks in my circle what they've been up to, they have goals that they are setting for themselves, working for, achieving.

I have none of that. No raison d'être. It gets frustrating and leaves me feeling empty.

"I can understand about having millions of dollars. There's meaningful freedom that comes with that, but once you get much beyond that I have to tell you, it's the same hamburger." - Bill Gates

Because you're in the habit of being very superficial.

Everyone has a purpose for their life, IF they want it. Thing is, it's not given to you, you have to discover it on your own.

^ Let me be blunt.

If you can look around you and not see 100 ways that you could just roll up your sleeves and do something to help others, then you are just being intellectually lazy.

Stop gazing at your your navel and wearing your ennui like haute couture.

Use all your empty time to work with the abused, the disenfranchised and the forgotten. Animals or people. Whatever.

Just do it.

So true ^

If "life has no purpose"
Why do people care about others or other's opinions ??

"I know what you must be saying to yourselves.
'If that's the way she feels about it why doesn't she just end it all?'
Oh, no. Not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment.

For I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you,
When that final moment comes and I'm breathing my last breath,
I'll be saying to myself"

Is that all there is?

I know what you must be saying to yourselves, if she feels that way about it, why doesn't she just slit her throat, and shut up? Oh no, not me. I'm not ready for that kind of a come down. Cuz I know just as well as I'm standing here talking at you; that when the final moment comes when I'm breathing my last, I'll be saying to myself, is that all there is?

I would still need a way to support myself. A career that fullfills.
