Limbaugh Alleges Fox Didn't Take His Medicine or Was Exaggerating in Political Ad

Actor Michael J. Fox Apears in Ads For Democratic Candidates

//Oct. 23, 2006 — WASHINGTON (AP) - His body visibly wracked by tremors, actor Michael J. Fox speaks out for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill in a television ad that promotes her support for embryonic stem cell research.
"As you might know I care deeply about stem cell research," says 45-year-old actor, who has struggled with Parkinson's disease for more than a decade. "In Missouri you can elect Claire McCaskill, who shares my hope for cures."

McCaskill has made support for the research a key part of her campaign to unseat Sen. Jim Talent. The Republican incumbent opposes the research as unethical, saying it destroys human embryos.

The new ad debuted prominently Saturday night during Game 1 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers and will continue airing statewide this week, a campaign spokeswoman said.

Debate over stem cell research looms large in Missouri, where voters are considering a ballot measure that would amend the state constitution to protect all federally allowed forms of the research, including embryonic stem cell research. The scientific study holds promise in the search to cure diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
"Unfortunately, Senator Jim Talent opposes expanding stem cell research," Fox says in the 30-second spot. "Senator Talent even wanted to criminalize the science that gives us a chance for hope."

Talent's campaign called the ad a false attack.

"Senator Talent supports medical research including stem cell research that doesn't involve cloning or destroying a human embryo," said Talent spokesman Rich Chrismer.

Earlier this year, Talent withdrew his support for a Senate bill that would ban all embryonic stem cell research and impose a million-dollar fine and jail sentence on violators. But he opposes the Missouri ballot initiative, claiming it would "make cloning human life at the earliest stage a constitutional right."

What is so stupid about that fat fuck is that the medication is what MAKES him move like that.

without the medication, Parkinson's Disease patients are quite stiff.

Why hasn't he died of fat yet?

I just wonder what a guy would post if he actually listened to Rush's comments about anything, rather than the media reports about what Rush said.

I'm not asking you to like or listen to Rush. I would just much rather react to the problems that I have with Rush Limbaugh based on what he actually said, in context, rather than have to listen to half-baked, knee-jerk reactions that are taken out of context.

Embryonic stem cell research was said to hold much promise but is not panning out quite as expected and now later studies are showing adult stem cells (they circulate in the blood stream of all of us) are holding and showing more promise. Before jumping on bandwagons in regard to new science, we should be waiting for the research to prove itself. So far embryonic stem cell research hasn't done that.

Know a gentleman who had a transplant of his own stem cells (collected from him over time) for treatment of lymphoma and it is now over two years down the road and he is holding his own and has a great quality of life. He is in his 50's

Rush Limbaugh said that Michael J Fox was either "off his medication or acting".

'nuff said.

Limbaugh is a hypocritical loudmouth who needs to be taken off the air. We get less wind from a hurricane.

Michael J. Fox said that he often goes off his medication when testifying to Congress or for other media impact. (I'm quoting from his book.)

So, when Rush said he was either acting or off his medications, was Rush Limbaugh wrong?

Nevermind, I don't intend to get into a fight to defend Rush Limbaugh. Yes, you're all absolutely right. Rush is fat. Rush is a recovering drug addict. Rush has no credibility whatsoever.

Like I said, it's just too bad that the people who criticize Rush Limbaugh the loudest have never listened to his show. But, fine. You win. Stay in your liberal closet and never come out and actually listen to or evaluate a complete conservative argument. React to soundbites. That's cool.

I'm wrong and don't deserve to even inhabit the same planet. I apologize.

I HAVE seen his show.

i've seen how he said that people on welfare are fat because we don't force them to work and pay them too much so they just buy beer and snacks.

I've seen how he said that Mel Gibson's rant against Jews was "Just what happens to people in Hollywood".

I've seen how he's been quite revisionist with his history to prove his "points".

The difference between Rush Limbaugh and the Hindenberg is one is a flaming, Nazi Gasbag and the other... um...

In other words, you don't really know what you're talking about, do you?

You've "seen" his radio show . . . digested the soundbites that you wanted to hear and react to . . . and that's all you need to "see".

Who's the gas bag here?

A4A

Um... Rush Limbaugh used to have a TV show. I used to watch it because i thought it was funny.

I've also heard a lot of his radio show at work.

And the Gas bag would be Rush. And anyone who defends him.

in case you were wondering.

I don't recall Rush Limbaugh ever mentioning Michael J. Fox and his parkinsons disease or his political advertisements that are misleading on his television show almost 10 years ago.

The gas bags are Rush Limbaugh and those who actually know what he said?

That's an interesting definition.

Let's get back to the issue. Did Michael J. Fox get "used" by filming ads for political candidates based on beliefs that the opposing candidates never supported?

That's the only thing that Rush Limbaugh was trying to point out.

A4A

I'm still not "watching" or "seeing" Rush Limbaugh. I'm seeing a picture of him enjoying a cigar while he talks about how hideous it is to have Parkinsons Disease and how he's not making fun of Michael J. Fox.

What I'm hearing, in the very clip you posted, is that the Republican candidate has no objection to stem cell research, as Michael J. Fox's ad would suggest.

Manipulation is clever when one decides based on half the facts, isn't it???

At the height of his drug addiction, Rush was taking FORTY Oxycontin
a day.

FORTY !

A fourth of that dossage would kill most anyone reading this, and yet he
remains a free man in spite of the 'Dr. shopping' and whatever else he had to do to get THAT many pills.

And yet, this pompous, fat hypocritical bastard has the unmitigated nerve to
down Michael J. Fox for 'shaking too much' to prove his point that stem cell
research has the very real potential of helping find a cure for everything from
diabetes to Parkinson's ??

Mr. Limbaugh should be dragged out into the street and shot.

(Of course, we'll have to rent a backhoe to unwedge his monstrous ass from
his Sharper Image leather seat, which is, I'm sure, about to collapse under the weight of his hypocacy and cellulite.

God, what a miserable son of a bitch that man is.

I listened, and though Rush did say it ,the whole context is lost and in reality is nowhere as bad and callous as Soil and the other libs here would have us or themselves believe. It's reflexive and doesn't serve their position well at all.Listen for yourselves and come to your own conclusions.Listen to the entirety of the ad and his words, you make the call.

If I'm callous for pointing out what an obnoxious thing it is to dimiss the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, I'm glad I'm callous.

You'll notice that I didn't support the ad.

But saying that he was somehow faking it is obnoxios, ignorant and just plain stupid.

Pretty much what I'd expect from Rush and the "Ditto heads".

whoa!

Joshy, why don't you tell us what you really think of "The Rush"??? lol

Remember guys, "Freedom of Speech" allows anyone to say "almost" anything to support their cause(s).......sometime, they "almost" lie, without really doing it to support what they want to say...

I think MOST people can distinguish the truth from fiction.......don't you?(*8*) (*8*)

I dunno, Roger...

Nothing pisses me off like hypocracy, and Rush seems to have that down pat.

Look, as far as I'm concerned he can pop pills until they find him face down at the endless buffet at 'The Sizzler', but I'll be damned if he's gonna 'sober up' and demonize others for doing exactly the same thing. [-X
