^ Ha !

Even by Limbaugh's "standards", I found this one to be a hoot.

According to his "sources", a poor girl in North Carolina had her turkey and cheese sandwich taken away, under the guise that it was not "nutritious enough", and was forced to eat three chicken nuggets, instead.

According to the story, the girl's Grandmother, who somehow managed to get the sandwich into the bag along with fruit and potato chips found her heroic efforts proven to be futile by the "food Nazi's" (led by Michelle Obama, of course...) who confiscated her lunch in the name of better nutrition.

Now, even if you've taken brief leave of your senses long enough to believe this nonsense, can you imagine this happening to the millions of children in the U.S. that bring their lunches to school every day ?

This is not about "nutrition", this is about making absolutely *anything* to do with Obama seem like the Devil's work, and of course reducing the cost and quality of any "hot lunch" served by our public school systems.

Ya gotta hand it to the GOP, they've taken something as inarguable as "children should eat healthier foods" and turned it into a "state controlled" form of socialism.

Fascinating.

Not into anything republicans bring up or the other guys who are the same. One thing I will say if you Americans do not get your act together even more of you are going to die young from being big fat pigs

This is a new low, even for Limbaugh. But then Rush Limbaugh is demagoguery at it's finest.

Garbage like this reminds me of The Clinton Chronicles, when the right wingers were accusing then President Bill Clinton of drug dealing and murder.

These people will say and do anything to discredit the President of the United States and the First Lady. Some people will actually believe this.

This story is being covered by several NC and SC news outlets and the national news to include the Huffington Post. It didn't originate with Limbaugh.

School Lunch Guidelines: Preschooler Told Homemade Turkey Sandwich Not Nutritious Enough, Given Nuggets Instead

The turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips and apple juice, according to the Carolina Journal, didn't meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines. So to meet those requirements, the child was given chicken nuggets. The agent was inspecting the entire class' lunch boxes that day.

School Deems Child’s Lunch Unhealthy, Replaced with Chicken Nuggets

A low level clerk in a NC preschool makes a dumb mistake, and the conservative press explodes in anger.

And for good reason. This is the most damning evidence yet of the incompetence of the Obama administration. If this isn't sufficient reason to impeach the president, then Rush Limbaugh is not an authority on law and government!

And yet, somehow, it does not bother you Republicans in the least for your guys to start wars unprovoked and on the basis of lies, tap American phones and emails without warrant, torture people, establish extrajudicial prisons, imprison people indefinitely without charge, install incompetent friends into important government positions, codify hatred into the constitutions of many states, and wage wars of hatred against many American minorities.

But an official erroneously identifies a single student lunch as poorly nutritious, tries to make it better, and you hit guys the ceiling?

Is there something wrong with the Republican Party?

I mean seriously, deeply, and profoundly wrong?

What strikes me as odd about this story is that a turkey and cheese sandwich is probably more nutritious than chicken nuggets anyway. I bet there's more to this story. Either way, a big meh from me.

Okay I would take all of the above and the add the 'Federal' government searching children's lunches for nutritional value and make the slight correction above. You right there is something seriously, deeply, and profoundly wrong in the Washington DC.

While an isolated incident it is none the less an example of why Hayek says that big government solutions are inherently less effective than smaller, lower level government or market solutions. The Federal government has no business or right to tap American phones and emails without warrant, torture people, establish extrajudicial prisons, imprison people indefinitely without charge, OR MICROMANAGE local school lunch programs. All of these things are symptoms of a government that is too large and removed from the people it governs to function effectively.

Remember the Peanuts routine: "Get a piece of paper. Write down the numbers 1-100. Call that "Sheet A", Get another piece of paper, etc., etc.

Good grief!

The Republicons have sold what souls they have left to the extreme right. I've been following presidential politics since high school. This "campaign" is the worst. My late father and I used to use the John Birch Society as an object of ridicule. The beliefs which are getting bandied about now are far, far worse. Bumper sticker during the reign of Boy Wonder: "I never thought I would miss Nixon."

The fact is that the government inspected a child's lunch. That isn't their place and they need to be to understand that.

http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/10731857/

This is absolutely disgusting behavior for the government to be engaged in.
Fear not! I can hear the march of the storm troopers going after that clerk! I hope they throw the book at her/him! :help:

This is the first story of the several I've read with the school really admitting that they goofed up badly. Not only was the child sent to the lunch line and had a LESS nutritious lunch than what she brought to school but the mother was charged for the lunch. Now suddenly they are saying that it should have been free. An awful lot of backpedaling going on now that they have become a national joke.

seriously

chicken nuggets are good for you?

so the upshot IMO is simply

the govt. is involving themselves in a disturbing way - as in "we know better than mom/dad what good food is AND we will remove YOUR food and replace it with our food and charge you for the privilege"

jesus christ

and we'll do it with chicken mother fucking nuggets

so we're intrusive and incompetent

LOL

oh btw - this is michelle obama's "baby"

and you blowhards giving limbaugh shit for reporting news and commenting should actually read the story and digest it with a wee bit of care before opening your blowholes

LINSANITY !!!!!!!!!!!

nice attempt to divert attention from a federal program which is clearly for shit

a federal program that attempts to CONTROL something they have no mofo business doing

AND

doing it badly

this mindset is symptomatic of much that is going on in the country right now

and if the repubs had half a brain they would take advantage of it

but not to worry they won't ;)

So how do you stand on the patriot act? Wait, let me guess, being a Bush era provision, your totally fine w/that shit.

^ you're really equating national security with the nutrition Nazis ? ;)

Wow

Let's try and stay on point here.

Maybe you don't get it. It isn't the government's place to be looking at our children's lunches. It isn't their place to evaluate if what I've given my child to eat meets whatever criteria they deem appropriate.

That's my job as a parent. I decide what food my child consumes, not some government clerk. Now they've back pedaled all over creation with this story about how they should have simply given the child milk and not forced him to eat the government approved chicken nuggets.

What I didn't see in the story and what everyone should be demanding, is an end to the government snooping in the kids lunch boxes. End of story.

Its a large bill with many purposes, which parts in particular? As someone with libertarian leanings I oppose the parts of it that make it easier for the government to spy or act against its own people.

Your guess would be wrong. It's blatantly unconstitutional. The democrats made a campaign issue of it, after having supported it. Then after they were elected to majorities, approved it again. It keeps getting renewed pretty much unchanged.

The Federal government has no business micromanaging local schools period. The Department of Education should have one function and one function only setting certification standards so one state can know with some certainty what it means when someone earns a high school diploma from another state.
